If people think I';m unreasonably negative then tough luck, it strikes me that they are just throwing everything they can find into this and ignoring what made the Tranaris so good

Onward

Ye gods those look horrible and what is with the aluminium ruler that is sticking out of the X9E in one of the most stupid locations imaginable ("gonna have somebody';s eye out with that")Did they get somebody from the cleaning dept to do those renders?

As for the specs I can';t help wondering what the point of all the bells and whistles actually are?

WiFi,  hmmm, I hope that is disabled when you attempt to fly any model with the TX
9 Axis sensors (why?) it';s already been shown that phones and tablet machines are awful for controlling anything
Dual screens (they are only starting to make used of a single screen)
Voice recognition dear lord no, just no, how many items will be downed due to that?

A bluetooth connection would be tolerable except of courseMS broke bluetooth a couple of rears ago and it';s never recovered and iPhones/iPads only permit minimal bluetooth connectivity.

If they use a different case, have swappable modules (like the Spektrum DX18 also had) and excellent gimbles then I may be able to not mock this particular vision of silliness.

I almost thought it was 1st April

i';m kinda half-way, they';re obviously try';in to be modernistic with hints of osrc (now what happened to that?)

they are clearly rendered pics, so the real thing may look completely different !

kudos for them doing something different tho';

tectic

I like the looks of the Horus
But i,m sure by the final release it will be totally diffrent

tupoar

I';m sorry, but for a second I though Frsky had gone into the mobile DJ market!

I kinda like the look of the Horus but would only buy it if it could connect to Traktor or Virtual DJ.

I';ll see myself out.

At least the osrc isn';t from a company who has proper production facilities ;)

I do like some tray style transmitters album it really needs some thought about appearance and also what people need/want from a tx.

Integrating too many new features is seldom a happy process either (ask spektrum)

Tupoar, now you mention it I could see a certain amount of M-Audio styling (no doubt some beat synchronised flashing blue and purple LEDs with bass boost will be featured) ;)

Now if that screen could also be an FPV screen with built in DVR and diversity/antenna tracker module

Not asking too much is it?

Could do the fpv screen and use a separate external module for the actual 5.8GHz reception.

I';m grumpy but to me it';s a camel as a camel is a horse that has been designed by a committee (aka marketing dept)

Cockney Boy

It';s nice to see a manufacturer doing something different and making controversial changes. Some will like it and some will hate it (Apple and Samsung story). One thing is for sure if the price is good and has useful features then it will sell.

I like em!
Lets face it, the Taranis was never going to win any style awards was it?

Nb interesting to note the word Taranis features in ios 8.0.2 new auto spell suggestion software!
Ah, i think they refer to the celtic god!

Kilby, not sure what u mean about bluetooth?  My Windows phone 8 connects seamlessly to my blue & me in my 6 year old Fiat, reads texts, and makes voice activated calls effortlessly.

From memory bluetooth serial is mostly broken, they sort of broke it back in xp (at the start) but you could install the drivers from Cambridge (who designed most of the bt chipsets at the time)

After that I mostly abandoned bluetooth under windows (have listened to people I  work still swearing about bit though)

Bluetooth works but usually means that the developer of the other end had had to do a fair bit of work

If they wanted to go mad they could release modules that bolt together (like the proposed Google phone)

After all the whole concept of channels doesn';t really exist any more at the tx end.

So you can start with a basic 6 channel and add other switch, slider, display modules as you see fit.

They could have official bodies  and also encourage a cottage industry of 3D printed bodies of they want to push things forward :)

I';m probably reacting poorly to the awful renders on their site

Kilby, that may be a very good idea.  I love the idea of just being able to buy the innards and designing my own case, yes that is good!

Not sure i like sound of Horus, too many conotations, like horliks!  No, was Horus a Roman god?  Or A character from Lord of the Rings?

Hours was Egyptian

I like the modular idea myself being able to choose the bits that you need.

Could have wood, metal or printed plastic cases and it really would be your transmitter

Hmm, I';m not entirely sure about either.  Not particularly a fan of the boxy shape.  And some of the fancy doohickeys make me wonder what they';re thinking of.

I am getting to grips with my Taranis and loving it each time I work on setting it to do something useful.
