Hi All

I ordered a kk2.1 hardcase controller which i am very pleased with. However when i received it the piezzo buzzer was missing so i emailed them. they replied asking me to fill in a RMA form following the guidlines in a video. When i watched the video it was all about returning faulty goods. I expect the the next thing they will ask me to do is send them a video of the missing item. I have given up as there are a lot of suppliers from UK , China and Hong Kong with competitive prices and free delivery.

Regards
Pete

Swings and roundabouts. You pay more from UK sellers but expect better service. You roll the dice with HK, Bangood and MyRcmart et al. SOMETIMES, it';s worth the risk. I mostly buy in the UK where possible, unless the item just isn';t available or is like 3x the price.

Speaking of which, when';s the RCExtra launch party, BG?  ::)

I certainly have no issue with buying from UK, especially since Chinese operators have forced prices down to realistic levels here.  Problem is I find 50% of time they';re out of stock on key items like props/motors/esc';s etc.
Which is a tad annoying.  :frantic:

Ditto - I';ve ended up doing my own warehousing of spare parts   I was even going as far as to order 5 motors/ESC for a quad these days!!!   A few of our "local" UK suppliers are keeping good stock of common bits these days, I';m eternally grateful for that ~~

I had a lipo that was faulty out of the box, I got a customer service person in the chat window, they asked for a photo of the faulty item.

10 minutes later I had a new battery on the way it was fairly painless, but you do need to talk to the service people.

They didn';t want the faulty one back

I must be lucky, 26 orders worth.......a lot ::)  and no problems whatsoever.
I must admit just lately I have been looking for most of the stuff I';m buying from uk suppliers but generally speaking they are way too expensive still which is a shame really, that said there are a few outlets (notably from forum members) who are not being greedy!  Well done to those people!

karlak

Had a faulty battery checker / balancer.

Contacted them on line, uploaded a photo and new one was dispatched in a day - no need to return the faulty one.

Where possible I only buy from the UK, if possible from local hobby shops, not always possible with this hobby, but if you don';t use them them then they';ll be gone and then you have to use hobbyking, who can then charge what they like.

Same with the likes of B&Q they are playing the long game and it';s going to cost you and me dearly.

Find a local supplier, or at least a uk one where possible.

If we don';t support our small businesses we';ll all be working in call centres!

Pete,
The hardcase KK2 doesn';t come with a separate peizo buzzer, it';s included for sure, but it';s already built in, it';s in the bulge at the back of the case. It was only the open KK2 boards that had a separate buzzer....

It';s all well and good saying support our local stores, the problem is though, that to many are biting the hands that try to feed them, by doubling up prices and making it hard for people to spend at them,

Considering money is an object for most, I for one would rather wait a week than pay x amount more in a local store, sadly local hobby stores give little incentive to shop there.

It could very well be that high street hobby stores are no longer viable in the face of on-line and competition from the far east. All that expense of running the physical shop itself, the VAT work for the taxman (long nights and weekends accounting), stocking suitably, selling, dealing with returns, wholesalers etc. It all sounds like a lot more trouble than its worth.

On-line I think we have a good selection of sellers, both forum members and elsewhere.  I couldn';t say that they offer bargains compared to the Chinese seller/importers. But then who can truly compete with such a massive nation that constantly undercuts everything so dramatically?  What is the West to do? Go belly up and then be totally beholden to the Chinese/Far East.  That would end up biting us in the backside.

I';m happy to pay a bit more to get local to UK and have at times found it much more expensive to buy from China when the Import Duty and Handling Fees get slapped on to a package!

And then there';s the post sales service ....

I regularly visit steve Webb models, 70+ mile round trip, as I like the shop, they are usually cheaper than most others, and the owners are spot on. Granted, my petrol is more than postage, but can have a chat, go get coffee round the corner :)

But take some other stores, same model, yet one is 32 quid more than the other, some simply want to make a profit, some just want to be extortionate, then wonder why people choose to shop online.

It';s a shame really, as I do prefer the shop visit to shopping online.

I recall we had a hobby shop back in the 70';s, but the owner died, and that was that.  Ironically perhaps, his hobby shop, although his livelihood, was really his own hobby, so how good must that have been?!

Those of you on the wrong side of fifty will certainly recall the oil crisis and the ';winter of discontent';,  when hobby stuff became scarce, and prices subsequently went through the roof, culminating in decimalisation, the final nail in the coffin of ';real'; money!
As a budding young model railway enthusiast in the day, i remember legging it down Holborn Rd to the big model railway shop after i heard a rumour that they had some Peco flexi track, in fact i bought the last half dozen lengths in the country!  Sad!

I think one of the really frustrating things is Chinese sellers on eBay masquerading as selling from within the UK. I select UK only sellers as my default setting not just adds listed on eBay UK. If items arrive within 10 days No harm no foul. But I';ve had some take weeks. Does my head in.
Anyway sorry for the aside. Only ordered twice from hobby King and got both next day. So far so good.
