eBay case

So I';ve just sold my dx7 on eBay and the buyer almost instantly opened a case upon receiving. He claims that the tx sometimes won';t bind with his ar7000 RX. I have never had an issue with my trusty dx7 and have bound many RX with it. I suggested to him that his RX is actually a clone as there are loads on the market. Just waiting his response now.
What do you think about that guys?

Fletch

Offer a full refund including return shipping costs....  If PayPal see this you are being reasonable...  It also puts it back in is court....  You man lose shipping costs...  But better than the grief of losing tx and money

Ask how he knows it';s the tx at fault... Does he have a second RX to test with?

guest2350

I supplied the tx with an orange dsm2 RX, never had an issue with it. O don';t think he has actually tried the orange one.
He is either pulling a fast one or his RX is a dodgy clone.
I will offer him a refund by Monday, haven';t actually got it right now as i didnt expect this!

turok007

just try to be nice about it.  then offer a full refund  and see if he was trying it on.  as many buyers no want some sort of part refund.  lol

guest2350

He';s taking the ****** if that';s the case! I';m going to be nice for so long. I';ll offer a refund if he returns the transmitter.
Personally I think he';s just got a faulty clone RX, I';ll try to resolve it the best I can. I just hope he is not trying to con me.

The.Quadfather

as others already said, keep it all civil

TBH, if you had received something faulty, you would normally contact the seller rather than immediately open a paypal case.
(but presumably it';s not close to the 40 days limit)

sounds like someone tryin to pull a fast one !

Cockney Boy

Did you take a note of the serial number? In many cases they buy a working unit only to send back a defective unit. It';s very common with mobile phones

Hands0n

Gawd, how dreadful. EBay has become such an awful place to trade these days. I used to sell my used mobile phones on there. Had a few near misses. Got so paranoid that I used to record the serial numbers and take dozens of photos from all angles to keep as evidence of quality. Had a couple of near misses myself. One gave up when I filed the photos as evidence and another when I threatened to report it and get the IMEI blocked, this turning it into a paperweight. Ridiculous.

In this case the advice given above is probably the best action to take. The buyer has completely jumped the gun opening a case before contacting you for help and advice. It does sound like a con. But if you play the game straight then eBay will likely back you if it goes that far. Or at least you get the TX back. Hopefully he';s not damaged it!

I used to sell car parts but got a few idiots trying to con me . Had a guy from ireland complain about a coilpack because it took 7 days to arrive , (I post within 24 hours) , and he said he had to buy a new one as mine took so long...ye right he paid £25 for it and a new one is £300 mmmmm think not , he then wanted to send it back for a refund and wanted me to also forward the return post . I just refunded it as i can';t stand working with liars and just new i';d get the broken one back.

I now only sell something worth over £50 , and normally buy it now . I also write on it with UV pen the ebay item number ,  If it gets problematic I ask them to send it back so I can check the security marking i';ve put on it.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SECURITY-MARKER-PEN-with-built-in-UV-LIGHT-invisible-ultra-violet-fake-note-/350824478844?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item51aec4b87c

Having said that it might just be an honest mistake , hopefully so.

Jumpy07

I have stopped selling on Ebay..  sold a brand new item.. and got it returned just before the dispute date ended.. had been opened and damaged.. and parts missing..

Even though buyer admitted parts missing and i had pictures of the damage.. and email trail.. they still ruled in buyers favour..

Took me ages to get my money back..   some dodgy buyers are well aware of the system and how to milk it unfortunately..

Would rather sell my 2nd hand multi stuff on here now.. or bin.. not worth the hassle..

sounds like he pulling a fast one..
i stopped selling on ebay now, just full of ripoff buyers wanting a freebee with no intention of paying..
as usual ebay always sides with buyer..seller protection...hahahaha  what a load of *******
there are some genuine buyers tho..
quite a few from here have bought from my ebay shop
dont grow up,just buy bigger toys!!!!

With over 570 positive feedback over his 100+ you';d think I';d have a better trust with eBay. I can';t see this being the case though if the buyer sticks to his guns.
I';ve offered him a full refund once I receive the tx back in the same condition. I do have a photo of the tx which had a blemish on the LCD and a replacement gear switch so it';s very distinguishable.
He said he';s going to take it to a hobby shop today to check it out, he clearly hasn';t got a clue about the transmitter in my opinion.

Would you not have the argument that, he has took it somewhere to look at, and it has now been tampered with by a 3rd party ?

I';m not sure, you may have a point but I';m not sure.

So, ive just had my transmitter back, it looks to me as though he has swapped out the transmitter module. the pcb looks a lot newer and a different shade of green to the rest of the pcb`s inside. I am fuming.
I`ve reported it to ebay and I will just have to wait and see where it goes from there

I now photograph anything of value that I sell before I ship it off, in particular serial numbers.  Then include the serial numbers in my invoice, that way the buyer knows that I know!

Good luck with your case.

I got caught out by a scrote on ebay awhile ago. I now take a video on my IPad showing it works, mentioning the buyers name and address, and a good all round view of the item. I send a copy to the buyer when I say it';s dispatched. No more hassles. Not how it should be, I sit on a lot of stuff that I no longer have use for, but can';t be bothered with the hassle of the bay of flea, unless really needed.  :embarrassed

guest2350

I';ve got to be honest, I';ve never had trouble like this before now. I';ll definitely be more careful in the future though.

Johnny Bravo

I had a really good run of decent people from 2009. I don';t sell a lot, had one idiot who got all mouthy because the micro servo I sent him had a different servo arm than the one pictured. Think he was miffed because he didn';t get the whole set of five, all advertised separately

Then I had a smart Alec who took me for a ride by sending his old she ite back, trying to say it';s what I sent.

But it does take the fun out of selling bits and bobs to finance something new hobby wise.

is there any way you can prove he swapped out the boards before returning it ... if you can then would you not have some kind of grounds for taking it to the police ... sod ebay/paypal

only that the radio module in the transmitter looks a lot newer than the rest of the pcb`s

i have had this in the past what i do now is normally put an invisable ink mark on the main component inside or even make a mark like a scratch with a small pin on a pcb then take a picture to protect yourself. if you take the pic somehow showing the serial number then i guess you will be a safe a houses...

I think that';s what I will do from now on. I`ll buy a pen tomorrow.
cheers!

The eBay seller protection isn';t worth the paper it isn';t printed on. I used to be quite an active seller but no more!  And stories like this keep me even further away from the place.

That there are people out there like @jamie16v has encountered astonishes me.  It would not even occur to me to set out to do what that fella has done to him. How completely despicable.  And shame on eBay for not listening to reason.

he`s just left me a negative feedback for spite too, I suppose that helps his case. I had 579 100% positive feedback too. not anymore, I used to pride myself on that!  :cry

Even this says to me that he already had a spektrum transmitter to swap bits out of!

You are able to give him feedback - and also respond to his feedback to you. I would do both. His feedback I would brand him a "Disreputable buyer, not to be trusted".
