Isn';t this the same air frame that @xxpitt flies?  Most recently seen here having a smashing old time of things and coming out unscathed ... http://www.multi-rotor.co.uk/index.php?topic=9493.msg79107

Superb price Phil.  Trying to find a 250 that I like best ... so ordered one of these to check out for myself.

Looks very similar but mine isnt the pro version and its carbon fiber but the one I fly is fibre glass. This looks a good little frame to me though and includes the longer motor bolts and anti vibe balls so will be a simple build. Here';s pro version of my frane if you want to compare

Plus phills is cheaper so thats a bonus. I prefer g10 frames myself though

looks pretty decent, nice thick arms.

This really 190g? Puts it considerably heavier than the ZMR Cloneout style CF frames, and there';s a bit missing from the cage lol

I assembled my 250 Pro last night - it took all of 15 minutes from taking out of the box.  The exploded diagram sheet was a good help too.  Now its ready to be part-disassembled to have the electronics and electrics fitted. ~~  It feels very rigid and sturdy.

it looks like it is slightly larger - 280mm vs 250mm and the arms are considerably thicker - 4.75 vs 3.09

Could just be bad luck - on the basis of a single crashed model I';d not worry too much. Wasn';t it JAB1a who actually broke a Spanky - that no one else seems to have been able to  to date?  And that was on grassy ground too!

I do like RCMR, however.

Yeah. **** happens sometimes I guess. I slammed one of my ZMR CF 250s (bought from another vendor here) into concrete from REALLY high (practising backflips lol) -result? Scraches. Of course my sample size is 2 (got two of these) so I can only draw my own conclusions... Its not like Bruce goes out of his way to rag anything Chinese while raving about his free Blackout and Lumenier stuff... But that is the topic for another thread

Anyway, its a nice looking frame but I don';t get the style of having a cut out in the top plate? Access to electronics?

His reasoning for why it failed is correct, it';s too tenuous in the slotted area of the motor mounts - a little bit extra material goes a long way to improving the strength.  It';s a common fault with budget cnc parts, they have to be nested on the sheet to give the smallest amount of waste and sometimes to do this best design gets to become less important!
It';s understandable why the cheapest frames are sometimes lacking and the more expensive ones are better but at the end of the day you pays your money and takes your choice!

Makes you wonder why anybody would want to make their own?

Can';t beat it, I';ve been looking back at wood again after my flirt with plastic conduit - which wasn';t too bad; from the cost point of view you';re never going to beat wood for a frame plus it works so well from the vibration point of view and ease of working with.

Yeah, i may try a woody next, laser friendly!  Should be pretty cheap too.  What do you use Darrell?

HandsOn, Im glad you like your frame so far, cant wait to see vids of it in the air

for those who have glanced through the thread and not clicked on the link at the start to see the new frame, I wanted to add that the frame in the video is NOT the one listed for sale in this advertising thread

The frame does weigh 190g, but it does have considerably thicker arms than the other style. which I also have listed on my website if people want that style frame

from personal experience, any frame will break if you crash it hard enough or at the right angle etc, looking at the general vids of people whacking these 250 size quads into everything, i think its clear they are a lot stronger than the larger quads and as such people take much higher risks with them, which with the reduced overall price makes them great fun to fly and thrash round the sky

if possible I';d like to ask that we keep this thread for the 250 Pro frame

Thanks
Phil :D

Birch faced ply and poplar from my lms, I tried hardwood ply and pine but found it wasn';t quite as good.
I use very thin ply (2 or 3mm) and laminate two pieces together so that one layer is at 90 degrees to the other,  it';s stronger done that way. I tend to use 15mm square arms except on 400 or smaller when I use 12mm or 10mm square.

Ah, of course, yes ,modellers plywood, for boats and such, excellent idea.

Whats the distance from the back of the frame to the edge of the FC?  Need to know how long a battery can be used without hanging to far over the edge.

Can';t measure right now but the biggest batt I can fit is a Nano-tech 1400 with just the slightest of overhang.
