Hi all, I';ve built my first quad an f450 clone to get me started in the hobby. I';m now looking at building the hobby king alien 560, I really like the look of this frame.
Im unsure about motor choice for it though, I was looking at these
https://www.multicopters.co.uk/emax-mt-3506-650kv-brushless-motor.html

With a 12 or 13" prop on a 4s or a 13" on a 3s. With 30A Afro esc';s
Am I in the right ball park with this setup?

Roccodog

Anyone?

Looks about right but 25A esc';s should easily cope if you buy decent quality ones, with that motor I would be inclined to go to 4S as it will be more efficient. As a general thing I try to go for the smallest props that I can that give me the performance I want purely from the point of view that a smaller rotating disc is less affected by wind.

I think most people are running 12" props on 4S. I am running 10" props on 3S with 30 amp esc';s.
I am going to try 11" props to try to increase my flight times a little.

You should be running bigger props on 3S than on 4S using the same motors, you can easily burn motors or esc';s out by going the other way and have poor performance on 3S.
4S will be turning the props faster so generating more load!

I have read that. We shall see how it works on this rig. It flies pretty sweet like it is.
I have been flying with this setup for a couple of months with nothing overheating.
I just ordered a set of carbon fiber 12" props just to test and see.
Thanks

Hi thanks for the replies, this is still all new to me so finding motor/prop/battery choices a little confusing.
