4S Battery recommendations?

Hi all,

Been a while since i last posted here, thanks to work commitments, and taking 6mths out to train for and run the London marathon, I haven';t had a chance to fly my quad in well over a year but am about to put that right.

However, whilst gathering my kit I';ve noticed that three of my four Turing Nano-Tech 4s 4000mAh batteries have puffed up significantly.  I presume it';s unsafe to charge and use these now?

Not keen to spend more on Turnigy given this, they weren';t used that much, had always been slow charged and were discharged before storage.

So what do you recommend as an alternative?

Zippy or Zippy compact ~~

I have had mine sitting around in some form of charged or discharged state for years and they work almost as good as they day they were bought.

I never keep any puffy packs and generally dispose of them with a full charge and a hammer and nail.

Thanks Biffa, will go look them up, cheers.

+1 for the Zippy Compacts.

I';ve not been flying for anywhere near as long as some of the other members on here but I';ve had no problems with my lipos so far. They charge up spot on every time with not a hint of puffing up.

Oh and they';re a great price too. ;)

Gensace from Giantshark:)
They';re a little outside my budget at £45ea for a 4000mAh 4S :(

I went with a couple of ZIPPY';s in the end, 4000mAh 4S1P 40C. Will see how they work out.

I';d put my money into Turnigy Multistar';s ... give them a try, they are light, don';t have a massive ';C'; rating but you don';t need it.  I don';t rush my charging instead I take a few batteries - to be honest after an hour or so I get a little ';bored'; particularly if I don';t have a ';video'; subject that I';m trying to catch.

I have 4S 6.6';s on my DJI F550, all up flying weight is 2.6 kg with camera etc and I get 20 minutes on the standard E300 propulsion system although safe ';mixed'; flying time for battery protection is around 17 minutes

Can';t speak highly enough of the Zippy compact';s TBH, I just wouldn';t bother buying anything else now.
