linky for making your own power supply for a charger.

Its an xbox power supply from the very first model , 203w output at 12v. Its fan runs quiet  and i';ve had it charge a 3s battery at 14 amps without it even getting warm.

My "brick"  was £5.50 delivered on a fleabay auction ( normally sell at auction for 5-10 quid)  and the banana plugs were £2 delivered.

Theres a few howto';s on the internet but you basically join all the black wires for -ve , all the yellow ones for +ve and join the red and blue ones to switch on the charger. I opened up the case so I could fit 2 banana posts , u just undo the 4 screws under the rubber feet and then take out the side heatsink screw.

I';m well chuffed with mine

The trouble with PC psu is that you usually have to load up the 5v rail with a dummy load to get full capacity on the 12v rail.

Leds will not load the rail you need something like a car headlight bulb.

5watt will be what the leds draw at their forward voltage not what they will take from the 5volt rail. The higher the load the more stable your 12volt output will be. A standard 55w headlight bulb connected to the 5volt rail and ground will load it nicely.
