Hi guys,
i have just finished doing the first flights of my new y6... though i feel it is underpowered...

i currently have the following setup

6x ax2810q motors
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25556__AX_2810Q_750KV_Brushless_Quadcopter_Motor.html
10x4.5 props on the top
11x45 on the bottom
4s 5200 mha

AUw including camera and gimbal approx 3.5 kg.. (this is a guess as i do not have scales - and i cannot seem to find any!)

Right now the motors are lifting for hover at around 60%... but i am scared of sending my camera up high with all of that weight and i feel like not quite enough power!

i am looking at these motors (also up to 8s to give me options for the future)

and these props

these on the bottom

With some 40Aesc for safe measure...

Anybody have any thoughts?
For now i am going to be using 4s as that is what i have, but might up to 6s in the future.

Does anybody have any better reccomendations?

thanks
Tim

I don';t have a Y6, but I do have a hex.  You say you feel it';s underpowered, but 60% takeof/hover sounds about right to me, but I guess that depends on the algorithms of the flight controller.  What FC are you using?  I admire your weighing abilities, when I attempt to guess that stuff, I';m usually way over (I';m a frequent ebayer!!)

You can tell if it';s underpowered if it';s unstable/un-responsive and flight times are realatively short.  I would';ve thought you should get 12 mins on that setup, but aren';t Y6';s supposed to be inefficient?
What';s the deal with the uneven prop sizes?  Is that Y6 tech?

hey...
My research tells me that bigger dia and higer pitch on the bottom is the way to minimise the inefficiency.... still have it but less so....it feels like i have to put in too much throttle to get it to stop its descent...but takes off ok and flies around no problem... just the mass needs more power to make it locked in.
i have to think about my Camera here!!!

Cloudbuster

probably get shot down in flames here but i use a simple 2 second rule !!! take it up to 50 ft or so cut throttle allow it to reach max decent then open the taps up again, if it take more than 2 seconds to get back to hover then you are over weight !!! you may want to try just a bit higher just in case ...
