anyone with the same frame as mine, (its the reptile 500) what size batteries are you able to shove up its rear end?. my zippy 4000mah`s are about a mm to big to get in there so I have strapped them underneath at the best CG but I would like to do away with the ridiculous landing gear I have made at some point which would mean the battery needs to crawl inside the frame.

I fit a 5000 lipo (not Zippy). My 4000 Zippy fits snugly, it is low and wide.

So, I went out for my second ever successful LOS flight today, and run through both my lipos (I need to get more  ).
I tested all the functions such as alt hold, loiter, simple modes and RTL which are working great, and I also thought I would test my failsafe, I switched off my tx and it worked  so I`m very happy with that.
The only thing I am not happy with is the amount of jello I had on my recording. I know this is because I haven';t yet balanced my props, because I don';t have a balancer "yet". I do have a magnetic balancer on order.
in my video, you can see what looks like the quad is having a freak out often, this is because it is hitting geofence most of the time(only set to 70m). ok, my flying is not the best as I am a newbie. also in the vid I had to stop for a bit and hover in loiter as I could hear a helicopter approaching, although it took a different path (you can see this in the vid at one point).
I also have a rough landing due to panicking when I heard my low voltage alarm beeping and I was trying to bring it down a bit quick. I can usually land quite well lol.
please excuse the jello (its actually jelly, we are British ) I know this is next to sort out!

What camera are you using and how have you got it mounted?  You might get rid of a lot of that jello by use of a bit of neoprene, something around 5mm should quieten it down quite a lot.

It';s an awful flight lol. But I didn';t crash!
It';s a mobius mounted on the anti vibration plate that comes with the reptile, it';s cushioned by 4 rubber things on the corners. It';s then velcro';d and zip tied to the plate so it don';t come off in flight.

Yeah, try a layer or two of neoprene or some vibe insulation between the camera and that plate supported by the four rubber balls.

Yup, I mean in addition to the rubber balls. They don';t do a sufficient job of damping vibes. Particularly if the camera is light such as a Mobius.  I used a GoPro on my Alien and while there was still some jello it was quite slight - the weight helped with the damping.

Just bought moongel, I understand these balls are too flexible but for now I';ve stuffed some foam between the plates to see how it goes!

here you go, here is the death of my quad, I might reframe it into a disco, not decided on that yet though. might just rebuild it. I`m not sure the exact cause of this crash, it just seems odd.

There';s no giveaway there Jamie - it looks very reminiscent of my Naza M Lite near-fly-away. A sudden surge of power and off into some random direction.  If yours is an APM FC perhaps the logfile dump may reveal something.

Cool, I';ll certainly take a look, and I';m sure others on here will also.  There may be a telltale in the logs as to what happened.

Hi Jamie at around 37 secs in and the quad starts to loose orientation where you throttling up and down? as it sounded like the motors where hunting and by that I mean the fc was giving intermittent signals to the motors.
Could the quad have lost GPS lock?

I think this is the file here, I`m not sure as I haven';t yet looked at it myself.
to be honest I wouldn';t really know what to look for anyway. have a look. cheers 

oh, and I just bought tbs plates from philtrum. ive also ordered 4 black arms from ebay and a set of carbon fibre props. hopefuly in a few weeks I`ll have it up and running again..
