Hello ::), I';ve been renovating our new house and moving into it and stuff and haven';t had any flying time since around last September, in order to rectify that situation I knocked up a new quad from stuff I had laying around. The frame is super basic, a couple of 3mm ply squares, 12mm square softwood dowels for the arms and a rcexplorer type wire suspended battery/camera tray. I';m liking this approach as repairs will be simple, quick(no waiting for the postman) and cheap. I have made a video of it';s maiden flights, the first few seconds of the video are the real maiden that was done in my house as the wind was blowing like a good ';un and the rest is from earlier today for its first proper outdoor flight. I';m a bit rusty with not flying for so long and this was just done LOS although I will be putting my FPV stuff on it soon.
Youtube have of course messed up the quality of the video.......

Great approach and having played around with all wood I can thoroughly recommend it - as you rightly say very cheap and easy to fix if things go t1ts up ::) ::) ::)
