I have found the parameters to change the endpoint values required to use stick arming.
mincheck and maxcheck, when adjusted to be in the range that the Tx/Rx combination outputs, allows stick arming to be enabled.

excellent news :D
Many Thanks

In multiwii I lower the mincheck one to remove some of the dead space between when the throttle stick is at the bottom and the minimum value it sees as something other than 0 throttle

There is a suggestion in this thread http://www.multi-rotor.co.uk/index.php?topic=7454.msg62321#msg62321 that there are settings in the CLI that can change the required endpoints, but no details yet.

In the meantime I have managed to get stick arming working on the bench (dining room table) by interposing an Arduino between the receiver and Naze to stretch the servo control pulses a little, but I would rather not complicate things by using this method if possible.

That sounds very involved. I suspect there is an issue with your dx6i being setup wrong (or faulty).

If your channels are all centering ok on 1500 but go down to 1000 and only as high as 1868 then you';ve got about 500 points worth of travel in one direction from centre and only 368 points worth of travel in the other.

Even if you get your quadcopter arming properly it';s going to fly squiffy as you';ll have more movement one way than the other by quite a few points.

I would suggest revisiting your spektrum dx6i manual to double check you';ve extended the end points correctly in both directions. I wish i could remember how dx6i';s work but i sold mine over a year ago now so i can';t check unfortunately.

new stock is winging its way from the supplier now on an express shipment mate, should be early next week when it gets here

Cheers

Hi PHil
does your shop accept paypal?
also maybe you shoudl consider importing some mini H quad and spider hex as well, apparently they are getting very popular but there is still no resellers yet in the UK.

thought that might be a good opportunity for an UK based seller! :-D

Involved, yes, but possible, and the Arduino is already on the quad controlling flashing LEDs.

As it happens I have found the 2 parameters (mincheck and maxcheck) and have have answered in the other thread, so no need for the Arduino solution.

Now that I have got to grips with how they work I will be investigating the ranges provided by the DX6i further.

Phil,
Is manufacturer stock still coming along or has that dried up? Seems to be a global shortage of Naze32 going by other forums and Facebook comments.

I';ll probably be in the market for another Naze32 Full after my holidays in July.

It would be great if they were assembled at the same factory as the Raspberry Pi in the UK :-)

But then they';d be £100!

That is rather the shame of it - although that said, it didn';t do Raspberry Pi any harm to move manufacture from China to the UK!

As far as I am aware timecop assembles the boards himself so why would he wish to assemble them in the UK?

Mass production, greater market penetration, he won';t be able to cope with market demand and if he leaves the door open someone else will step in if they think there';s money in it.  That kind of stuff.

Problem is that the cheapest components will be used to maximise margins which has been an issue with the RPi in the past.

I';m all for quality boards (both design and build) and I will often end up paying extra for a properly specced one.

I have lost the thread but there is an argument between timecop and some other guy about the Naze being too expensive. There are costings for parts etc in the thread and it is a most interesting read.

If you also do a search for Bunny Huang (the guy who first hacked the XBox) his blog shows why a lot of designers simply walk away :(

I have a mate who';s designs high end specialist electronic devices and they have considered mass produced items in the past but the problem always comes down to quality control and not wishing to go from design & production to supply chain management.

Yet some firms manage it just fine - 3DR, DJI and others spring to mind.  Cottage industry manufacturing is all very well, but it won';t achieve significant market reach.  Timecop, if he is doing this as a one man band, is going to burn out - it is inevitable, just a matter of when, not if.

If the Naze32 is open source hardware (I don';t know, is it?) then there is a chance that the Chinese will jump in for their usual fast buck at little cost to themselves. That would save the platform. Otherwise the Naze32';s future is assured - oblivion.

I guess it all depends on what the crossover point is, where it becomes essential to move from cottage to industrial production of some kind.

Ditto re quality boards - it is why I bought my Pixhawk from 3DR (when one could) rather than a legitimate Chinese clone.

Theres something about the Naze32 i just love it,maybe i didnt have my kk2.0 boards tuned properly, the naze seems so much smoother to me.

There are plenty of clone naze32';s available. They all cost more money and (allegedly) have lower build and component quality. Timecop appears to hate them all.

The flip32 is one. Flyduino do another. I think there';s a ';spiritfly'; board as well which has a different name but is also a Naze32 clone. So that';s 3 already.

If demand suddenly increased i bet more clones would pop up.

I';m going to keep buying the originals as long as i can though - given the price and the quality.
