Servo vs Brushless difference

I';m curious to know why brushless is more desirable over servo gimbals and how great a difference they are.

I think it';s because the motors are much quicker to react so your video is much smoother. Plenty of vids on YouTube check them out. When people are using a brushless gimbal you can';t see any effect from the movements of the multirotor

Chalk and cheese. Brushless is much faster to respond and the controllers are very good indeed. Servo gimbals are typically driven from the flight controller so you have some separation between the gimbal and wherever the fc is mounted.

I did check out a couple of videos and couldn';t tell any difference but that';s more likely down to youtube conversion than anything else.

Like this for instance
Brushless motors gimbal vs servo gimbal

And this one, which isn';t a fair comparison as the servo is one axis but both gimbals look imperfet to me

Been looking at gimbals for nearly a year. Servos are not good at the cheap end compared to brushless. 2 axis has become the norm but 3 axis brushless is now the dog';s what nots.

HowDoIfly

Yeah, I';m resigned to 2D if it saves on cost (cos I can yaw the whole craft) but I don';t want to pay multiples of cash for a slight improvement over a far cheaper option, considering I';m not a pro and won';t be using a pro camera. If a good servo setup comes a close second, I';ll probably be very happy at the money I saved but if it';s absolute pants, then I';ll be upset.

What sort of camera will you be using? If a GoPro, there';s loads of really cheap brushless gimbals around now that will give you very professional results.

I got a mobius coming on a slow boat from china. Gopro';s too dear for my liking though I do have an HD camcorder that doesn';t weigh too much, it';s just the wrong shape.
