With a 3 year warranty like most of their stuff you can';t go wrong, I';ve had their Hedge-cutters, a Strimmer, a Lawn mower and loads of small electrical stuff all at silly cheap prices - I have yet to have one fail (shouldn';t have said that should I  ::)  ::)  ::) )?

At 1:20 he';s made his own FPV antenna!

I thought that but had to go fullscreen to be sure - it';s flower art, silver soldering.

This item is worth the money but I';m bothered about replacement tips, I don';t like the two supplied and would want a source for more.

Twas a joke, I was being sarcastic ;)

Couple of quid for the 2 rolls of solder. Got to be worth a punt at that price.

Jumpy07

Picked one up today.. they had loads of the at Clydebank..

Must admit.. well impressed with it for the money..  not really designed for fine work.. but more general use.

Picked up mine earlier and already tried it - excellent for general soldering but fine stuff wouldn';t be easy; good job I';ve got a tiny pencil 12W one!

kilby

On this side of the Irish sea they are charging 11.50 for it

Buggers are charging the equivalent to 8.99 down south.

Nice to be exploited yet again

Gadget Man

I bought one today, it';s not bad for the money but the one thing I didn';t like is the way the tips are threaded and screw into the iron.
I reckon it';s going to be fun trying to change tips after a few heat cycles.
I';ve screwed mine in with copper grease which should help a bit.

I understand from pro ';soldering circles'; that the hollow tips that contain a carbon rod (like the Maplin one I have) are best for rapid temp changes, although for that sub £10 price it';s fine for occasional soldering tasks?

SkyMonster

I bought two. Not sure there even worth the £9. First tip burnt out after three F450 builds and the temp goes right out of it when you try to solder anything slightly demanding. Takening them back tomorrow.

Of course, thats the good thing about Lidl and Aldi - anything goes wrong, take it back, the money is returned without quibble!  Makes me wonder how they ever make a profit sometimes.
