We got hit pretty hard with arctic weather. Expecting -40 degrees windchills. Heres the jeep this morning. The high winds coming will really make a mess.  Wish I had an extreme cold weather UAV :)

This is in Toledo, Ohio U.S.A.

Time to batten down the hatches mate. Stay safe an warm and dream of the coming summer evening flights.

Take care my friend.....

-40 degrees, now that';s brass! burrrr

Point and click.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Would Lipo';s function at those temps, let alone humans?

teslahed

You would keep the lipos in your pocket until just before you used them, then hope the current draw in flight kept them at a working temperature.

I would expect to get less power but if you did it right it should still work.

But at -40 you are going to get strange things happening to the chips on the flight controller. Unless you had that insulated as well i think you might run the risk of the flight controller just giving up or going crazy in flight.
One circlip short of a quadcopter.
1 lobe short of an antenna.

Haha. Thanks everyone. Yeah the chill is dropping. Its only -9 and -25 degrees windchill rt now. After dark its gonna be nasty lol

Toledodave

Uh..oh!     So we got slammed with 8-10 inches of snow last week and got down to -37 degrees then froze up all the lakes and Great Lakes and now today and tomorrow temps climbing to nearly 40 degrees. All the melt has nowhere to go. Its gonna get ugly and may get some flight time in! Lol
