Grease It!

As a new comer to the hobby, all my kit is new.  There is a preponderance of plugs and sockets involved.
I have noticed how difficult it is to disconnect some of them, especially those you need to connect/disconnect regularly like the battery and balancing plug.

It may be common knowledge, but I have never seen any reference to it, but put a smear of grease on the socket and plug/unplug a few times and it will then be easy on the finger nails and you won';t have to tug on the wires themselves to disconnect. Use just a smear, you don';t need to smother it!

Caution, though, do not use graphite grease and this could be conductive. I haven';t tested the graphite grease but with LiPos & I don';t want to test it.) Ordinary automotive or general purpose grease is not conductive. If you have a choice, use a light grease...

Just sayin';

I know they use light grease/vasoline on car battery terminals, I assume to stop corrosion, but would grease on connectors prevent a good electrical connection?
:hmm:

Not at all Andy.
I have used a smear of grease on connectors ranging from micro-electronic connectors that pass micro-amps, boat nav equipment exposed to sea salt, fire engine rescue platform comms, through to car trailer connections. All good to go.

In that case, pass me the grease gun!
