...everything going well with the F450, still so much to learn and thoughts turn to "What next?"  :whistling:

I have been thinking about things I would maybe like to be different/improved on whatever is next and a question or two pops up!

One minor thing I would like to change that comes under the personal preference side of things is the mosquito type buzz from the motors/props.

I think I understand the basics of the volts/speed ratings (how many rpm per volt) and currently run standard 920Kv DJI motors on 3S Lipo';s. My question is, if I was to build a new multicopter (probably a hex) is there a technical reason why you cannot use a low Kv speed rated motor but higher power rating running on the minimum cell size, this would give me a slower running motor with possibly a larger prop and I reason, a quieter flight? I realise that there would be a cost involved as the bigger a motor gets the more expensive!

Does this reasoning stand up in a practical sense?  :hmm:

I';ve seen a few videos of multi';s flying at considerable reduced rpm compared to mine with a far less irritating buzz. This may just be due to quality motors and good props but I want....

I wouldn';t know if it would work or not but I love the idea. May help with ';jello'; when filing too. Be interested to see how you get on if you go down that route. I think in theory it sounds feasable.

Thanks Rob, That';s one vote! It';s probably a way off before I do anything but it';s good to try and plan a little!  ~~

Maybe I';m thinking along Rolls Royce lines - big, slow, powerful and quiet! Compared to a Japanese bike at 15,000rpm, no contest for me!

Be interesting to see what alternative views I get.

lower kv motor you can use  bigger prop, less rpm giving more thrust and quieter flight, plus better flight times..
dont grow up,just buy bigger toys!!!!

ChrisH

Ah! My thinking is looking good then, Fruitsalad! Sometimes when embarking on a build project I feel that minimum cost can at times be an overriding build target, ignoring other possibilities. I realise, of course, that for many people the bottom line cost is the overwhelming driver out of necessity.

I want to take my time and glean as much knowledge from the many learned peeps on this helpful forum! (creep mode off!). If it takes me longer but I achieve my targets, all well and good. I';m not being driven by the desire to get something in the air, I will continue with the F450 for sure.

Looking forward to alternative views.

I like your thinking :-) I';m very very new to all this but that is the sort of thing I';m aiming for myself so look forward to what people have to say about this.

Dear Friends:

I also consider this is the possible way to improve stable fly since I am building a fly project of Geography.

Thus, I change propel from 1045 to 1147 for my Quarotor with Crius SE V2. Changing the throttle curve and PID as suitable.
Hope I have chance to do the experiment like 1045 did as quick as possible. Then, sharing the result with all my friends.

Have a nice flying day

My ideas are slowly coming together. Tarot FY680 frame built. 2814 710Kv Tiger type motors running 13x6.5 carbon props with 3S batteries. I';m only hanging a GoPro on a RCT gimbal so shouldn';t be heavy. Should have loads of power with the six Tigers and they shouldn';t have to work very hard.

Hopefully give me something like my target! :crossfingers:

Flying soon  :frantic:
