Flight controller advise

Hi
I currently have a HK DYS320 with a CC3D flight controller.
I want to upgrade it to something with a built-in barometer.
So I am looking for a 36mm flight controller with 30.1 bolt spacings that will work with multiplex MLink protocol and has a Barometer and preferably has pins already soldered on to save me doing it.
Needs to work with FPV too.
The best I can get please. Incase I want to transfer it to a better model later

Thanks Alle

Hi, welcome.

Well, have to say first off that the DYS 320 even years ago was considered pretty minimal quality, its completely assembled from really REALLY old and now considered obsolete technology in all respects, such that now its way behind in the fit for purpose stakes, especially freedom from flexure, resonance, handling, and compatibility with modern operating systems and firmware.

Personally I'd not recommend you look to upgrade it at all, but to replace it.

Anyway, lets try............

Very few flight controllers for QUADS have servo pins fitted or even have them supplied, normal being soldered wiring to pads. Ones that do are more or pretty much exclusively aimed at fixed wing and only then for the servos to operate surfaces.

Matek make some decent well priced FC's, so you'd do worse than start to look there.

Lets start elsewhere for a minute, why do you need a barometer and what do you want a quadcopter to do?

Actually I gave it to my son, who has a mavic air and wanted to try FPV. I had the  dys320 some shark goggles and a multiplex royal kicking around. When I had it I found the throttle way too sensitive even on low rates it would climb and fall on one click of the ratchet.

I wanted to get a flight controller that would allow him to use it but also to upgrade the frame as he moves on.

I have now purchased a Matek F405-HDTE Flight Controller.
Also 4 new escs as the onboard ones were crap. Hopefully now all he needs is a new frame and motors to have something better?

Well, please take into account that the design began in 2015, eight years ago, when even a few months is a very long time in multirotor development.

For the past three years plus its been generally very unprofitable and unproductive to build rather than buy.

One major factor in this is that Quad sellers are many and in stiff competition, also they buy components in bulk, they don't have to pay individual shipping/postage to various sources to get the set they use. They have people who design, test and match items to in most instances ensure high compatibility and the best performance for the money.

I built my first three quads myself near 15 years ago now.  For the last three years I have found it FAR better to buy BNF/PNP and tune (often minimally!) despite enjoying building generally.

Some of the "budget" sellers put together quads so good its hard to see how they do it.

I'm thinking DarwinFPV, Diatone, EMax, etc.

That FC board is £50-£75 without shipping. Then add ESC and motor costs.

A complete Darwin FPV quad is assembled, pre-matched, tested, has a decent frame, and options come ready to add receiver and fly.  (I'm not connected, don't even have one, but have been around them and followed over many years reviewers I trust!)

That is very very wrong.   :blink

Not clear if you were adjusting rates from the Tx or from the FC firmware. Not familiar  with Open Pilot, etc, as have actively avoided them for Cleanflight initially and then Betaflight, but most FC firmware ONLY responds properly to in FC firmware adjustment of rates/expo/etc.  Same with trim, done NOT via TX firmware but onboard the FC.

If it allows profiles then choosing a new one, and adjusting that, will allow trying those changes while still having an instant way to change back to original profile.

Wow a CC3D that's going back. That was my first fc back in 2015 I think. It wasn't really current back then as Open Pilot was dying and CleanFlight took over.
I am surprised you can still get the software to edit any fc parameters.

Buying pre built is so much cheaper and not such a gamble as selecting your own components these days.

Good luck with the F405
I try :-)
