D16 or D8 Binding.

I haven't been on here for a while but a quick recap I usually build and set up my own quads.....However I've decided I want an indoor smooth quad to fly around the house I did have a mobula7 over a year ago but even with throttle taming on betaflight I just couldn't get on with it and got rid of it.
Watching a few youtube videos i'm now thinking of buying the new Emax tinyhawk 2 flying on 1s battery looks like a smooth indoor flyer (im not looking to race just to fly around the house under the tables chairs etc)...So here's my question ?
My TX is a Taranis X9D+ Special Edition which is a EU version and my four outside quads all have EU software R-SXR receivers on them bound to D16.
My Tx had either D16 or LR12 bind modes....Ive just put the latest Taranis update on my radio not ticking 'eu' on Open TX when I flashed it so now I have the option of either D16 or D8 binding.
I've read online that through betaflight in the receiver option you can change the tinyhawk 2 from a 'Frsky D for 8 channel' to 'Frsky X for 16 channel' so the real question is this.....Can I now bind in D8 Mode or D16 Mode and what would be the difference am I still getting full telemetry in both ?
I only have one model set up in my Tx so all my quads are bound to that ie D16 mode so if I bound to D8 my other models wouldn't work unless I created a second model to bind in D8 ?
Basically if I bound in D16 like all the other four quads I could then run the tinyhawk on the one model set up but would I still get telemetry ? I'm just trying to work out the difference between D8 and D16 ?
The Emax tinyhawk states its a spi receiver compatible with Frsky D8 mode ?
Thanks for any advice  ~~

I am fairly new to FrSky but to my understanding bind a SPI receiver in D8 mode. Binding in D16 mode even without telemetry seems to cause intermittent loss of signal!!!!!
To be honest now with BF OSD do you really need telemetry?
I have a FrSky X-Lite S which only does D16 and ACCESS so no D8 even if I untick the EU box!! FW prevents it!!!!
I recently bought the Emax TinyHawk Freestyle and it's great. I have flown of 1S and mainly 2S details here: MultiRotor - My Freestyle.
I did have to add an external rx (R-XSR as I had a spare). I am only running sBus and retransmit RSSI via tx to display on OSD. All works well with decent range, will limited by 25mW vtx which the TinyHawk 2 having max of 200mW.

One think I am unsure of is if you can bind EU D8 to the TinyHawk spi rx. I guess you will just have to try and see if it binds. If not fit an external rx.

Couple of things I have learned, after not getting on well with Mobula7! Reduce the camera angle close to flat to start, that way you will fly slower. Second is reduce your rates to make it more docile, something like max of 400deg/sec with a flatish centre stick curve if you get what I mean? Maybe even add throttle expo when you know hover %.

You probably knew most of that anyway.
I try :-)

Thanks Ched its too late for the Mobula 7 advice as I don't have it anymore although you are right I had done most of what you suggested I'm also aware the Mobula 6 is out now which is smaller and more for indoor flying but again watching a few 'professional' reviews I can see its still quite flighty even after adjustments to calm it down......Whereas the Emax Tinyhawk 2 seems smoother and easier to control from my observations on YouTube.....It all depends what you want I suppose if you want a fast little indoor racer then go for the Mobula 6 or 7 or a more docile smoother indoor precision quad then the Tinyhawk seems more suitable ?
I suppose the only reason I wanted osd is for the timer and battery voltage so I can return the quad back to me before the battery dies and I've got to go get the quad rather than it comes back to me

I have a mobula6 on order at the moment!!!! I am hoping I can tame it down a fair bit plus I have been practicing with it on Velocidrone. They have a £4 add on that gives Mobula6, tinyhawk, BetaFPV 75x, plus a few others whoop style quads. I think my rates on Velocidrone are down to about 400deg/sec with a fair bit of throttle expo (about 30% at 50% throttle). As long as camera is low (10-15degs) then flying round the virtual house in rate mode is fine.
The freestyle is great for outdoors on 1s or 2s. It is very stable and with low camera angle (only 2 positions for camera, low and medium). I use my normal rates (about 600deg/sec) and it is so controllable it's a joy to fly. I find myself flying it through gaps I wouldn't dare fly with my X120 or R349. I have started using the Freestyle as my warm up quad. I after I have used up my 4 batteries on it I then have a bit more confidence on the x120 for the same gaps. The r349 is way way faster and I need big gaps  :D
Anyway I am sure the TinyHawk 2 will be great for indoor flying. OSD plus warning buzzer is perfect as low battery warning.
I try :-)
