silly me, both my ai6 tx`s have been kept in cold damp outbuilding, seems the power switch has gone bad on both, like not turning on, and having to wiggle the switch to get it to come on, then it will go of on its own, moved them to a warm dry location, anything i can do before shelling out for a new one and moving all my models over

There is a spray called 'switch cleaner' that has a  small chance of fixing it or maybe replace the switches? I assume you have cleaned the battery connectors, the rubber from a pencil works quite well.
It might take a bit of searching but you might be able to find replacement switches, I even found the little switches that are in my cyborg mouse. Bought 10 for £2 and replaced the switch.
I try :-)

I have fixed one of them, took it apart and sprayed a small amount of WD40 into the switch, and it now works perfectly, dare i say better than before, will do the other one later

#3
Be careful with WD40 it is conductive!!!!! Try and wash it out with isopropyl alcohol. If you have a can of air duster hold it upside down and spray it into the switch.
WD40 really is a misused product. It's not very good as a lubricant as it does evaporate. It's not bad as a penetrating oil (PlusGas is better), it is very good as Dispersing Water from say damp distributor caps etc.

By all means try it, but try and clean it out afterwards.
I try :-)

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but anyone searching is likely to find this, so best to keep issue resolution together.

I have kept three quads on my FS-i6 for use by the school club boys.

Today the EMax 200 had developed a heavy lean to the left!   :blink

Put it on Betaflight and the Ail channel was well off centre with trims centered.   Worked the stick and it was centering differently each time.

Classic dirty Pot syndrome.

Took back off and sprayed evaporating contact cleaner into the pot body through a couple of tiny holes till it washed out.  Gave it drying time.

Now centering well, flown in garden, now working well.

That's the first sign of any trouble with this heavily used pretty roughly treated FlySky FS-i6 which dates from 2014 and cost less than a FrSky receiver as a combo with a telemetry 8 Ch Rx. First time I have opened it up, and it looks quite nicely assembled, way better than some expensive products!

Nicely fixed, these budget Flysky radio`s are still the best value TX if you dont need all the frills, i have friends that are sounding like a broken record "get a taranis" but i just dont need to change, though i am looking at the FS-8......but dont need it, plus one of mine is hacked to 10 channel

My i6 is about 4.5 years old and served me very well. It has the modified FW to give 14ch I think plus timers etc. I too had the pot sticking/slow return/ iffy control.
I had to replace 1 gimbal as I dropped something on it and 1 pot due to wear. In fact that was 1 of the two reasons I replaced it, the other being no decent small rx.
I did switch to a Turnigy Evolution and I did like the feel of that.

I changed to a FrSky X-Lite S and while it is good and receivers are small and have good range it's not actually as nice to hold as the Evolution. It does have some great features like haptic feedback and voice call outs for warnings.

For the money the FlySky i6 really can't be beat and lasts a good while. For beginners I think it's a great choice that will follow you as you progress without limiting you other than really small rx as x6b is only real decent smallish rx I found.

I try :-)

This flysky talk had me looking into whats about, i like the FS-I6X 10 channel, but only one 3 pos switch, i have seen a simple mod to fit a second 3 pos, so looks like i will be spending again

Not looked for a while but there is a mod for an extra switch on the i6 with the modded fw. Not sure how many pos. I also think there was a mod to convert a variable pot to a multi position switch.
6pos switch mod https://github.com/benb0jangles/FlySky-i6-Mod-/tree/master/6-pos-switch-mod
extra sw https://github.com/qba667/FlySkyI6
I think the later fw somehow allow swB & swC to be combined to give an extra switch combo to give a 4 pos combo on 1 channel.
I try :-)

My battered FS-I6 is still going strong, switches replaced, gimbal pots cleaned, springs changed.
FW updated, antennas changed. Does everything I need.

I will at some point in the very near future buy the FS-I6X and the old turnigy branded ai6 will be parts department, and one of the flysky ai6 will still get used, has to be the best value workhorse radio at a super price

Ordered the FS-i6X, already got an ipex to rp-sma antenna cable and getting an insert 3D printed so i can neatly do the antenna mod, got a spare 3 pos switch from an old flysky (turnigy branded)...cant see me ever not using Flysky
