  • Reman: I did double check it with a metre (Mainly because I knew if I didn't check the polarity this would be the time the manufacturer had gone off script and put the negative in the middle of the coax) and felt slightly cheated because it was only making 19.7 volts. :)

good old faithful Mobius velcro`ed to front of canopy, also got a VTX fitted for fpv. Totally love this wing, it will float like a glider, it can really hustle on full beans, no nasty tip stalls peach of a wing to fly

Good setup, I use the same  on my wings . Only drawback with the mobius is  the battery gong flat after a couple of weeks. Mine is on it's second battery, replaced with a higher capacity one. I'm tempted to fit a small switch which would probably need to be mounted externally as the case is stuffed.

I did 🙂 very happy to see the new quad is a bit happier to stay in the air than the old one!

Lots to learn with the camera stuff but I'm more interested in gaining confidence in the flying part for now

Made it out for a couple of hours, the field is a bit muddy and visibility was not good.  Very odd turbulence at  different heights, must be seasonal lumps..

I finally got the batteries for my little brushless 80mm "B4stard quad" today. The quads pretty much a "Revenger 55" in the lightest 2" frame I could find, Mainly because the original 55mm frame was just too awful a pile of cr4p to warrant the build time. It's still running 1.5" props though as that's the biggest the motors can handle. I was a bit worried that it wouldn't have enough thrust to be interesting, But it seems I shouldn't have been.

Even on the measly little 450mAh 2S batteries (That's the highest voltage the 15mm stack can take !!!) it feels ever so slightly too lively for indoors use, So despite it still desperately needing to be setting up and calibrated properly I took it out for a few packs around the garden. It's no rocket ship, But it's still a reasonably lively little thing. I was a bit surprised to find that with gentle circuits I was somehow getting a little under 5 minutes a pack. I was expecting 3 minutes, But I was hoping for closer to 4 so this came as a pretty nice surprise. It's very twitchy at the minute though, and it drifts to the left all the time, But apart from that it seems like it's possibly going to be a fun little toy with a little tweaking.

Now I must get around to finishing the Diatone GT R239 build. This freaky little 80mm one's got me quite interested in seeing what the 90mm GT might be like.
I need a pay rise........ Though I'd settle for a reduction in the amount of hours I need to work to get the same money.

Somehow or other I managed to get through 8 x 2200mAh packs today, on various planks and wings, no idea how...............   :whistling:

And a "first flight beyond a garden hover" maiden at the field with the Hawk 5 (Ballistic is under representing it) and the BabyHawk R, which flies so like a Hawk 5 you have to keep reminding yourself its only a 3".

Managed an hour or so giving the new dolly a run up and down, why didn't I make one ages ago. Makes smooth easy launches. Trimmed out a 2mtr  glider, and just until  the. fingers gave up ripped a couple of batteries through the Speedwing.  Only just thawed out.

Commiserations, might be time to change air frame. Flying wings still have some Race spec/Raven Radical wings left.
Laminated up they are almost indestructible, If things go buns up chop the  throttle and they come down with no damage. They won't carry a Go pro but a Mobius or Run cam  just Velcro'd  on  works fine.  ~~

Edit.. If you do get one, coat the wing with a couple of layers of Easy kote  or Polly -c sanding down between with very fine wet and dry  the laminate then adheres very  well.

Maidened the TopModel Astra, it climbs almost vertical, only needed a couple of clicks of trim.  There was very little wind  and when the flaps were deployed it stopped :o .... so  they need backing off by about 75%.
Then to complete the day  freezing rain started, fingers were frozen  so back to the burrow....
