Loctite on motors / prop nuts?

Hi all,

I';m about to replace my Wizard motors with TBS Steele motors. Given that the new motors only come with a single thread direction should I loctite the prop nut to avoid it unscrewing itself during flight?

Thanks,

...t the new motors only come with a single thread direction..

That';s dissapointing.  :huh Thought Mr Davis would have though about that. Had my props pop off when I got my motors the wrong way round once  :embarrassed
Perhaps invest in a pocketfull of prop-nuts just in case- I know I need to get some myself, living dangerously.

Use Nylock nuts but run a steel bolt through them beforehand to set the threads in the nylon otherwise you will stretch or damage some aluminium prop drivers.

Loctite on motor bolts and nylocs on the prop shafts

Also if you are a tricopter flyer and use a MG servo, use loctite on the horn retaining screw, or the horn can just pop off in flight, resulting in an uncontrollable spin.
Why use 4 motors when you can use 6?

Holy crap.

On a motor use blue (medium) threadlock on the nuts that connect it to the frame

Do not use threadlock on the prop nuts, use nyloc nuts (they usually are what comes with the motor

Holy crap.

Exactly what I thought and so didn';t post.  :lipsrsealed

Personally I avoid using threadlock and I have extremely rarely used it on my quad collection, neither have I used it with the helicopters I have used for over ten years inc big 700 electric and 91 powered IC.  RC Cars as well, and I was successfully running RC Stock Cars which are subject to all sorts of hits and vibration.  I am particular on thread fit of components and reject/change/replace quite a bit.

Threadlock of a metal screw into plastic is a no no. If you need to use it something is seriously wrong.

IMO threadlock should be seen as a last resort and is frankly in practice allowing poor engineering standards to prevail.   :nananana:

Bad engineering? not necessarily,
I balance motors, props and prop hubs, but still get some vibration in the frame, using loctite is a good thing as an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure fixing things after a bad crash.
