So it finally turned up, but had to pay some charges on top when i picked it up. Thanks parcel force and customs for the extra £30 XD

Anyway this thing so nice, really high quality matt carbon fiber and aluminum parts. I quickly put a motor on to see what it will look like and some size comparison pics too, its Big :D

Bloomin hell Shaktar you havent finished the RCT 800 yet have you
are you going to use the same rctimer motors on that as you have on the 800 ?
will it be easy to make the motors fit ?
that';s couple of questions I know Neil would like the answers to  ~~
Have you got a box full of naza flight contro;;ers tucked away somewhere   ~~

Very nice looking frame it looks like you have come a long way since the hovercraft  ~~

I know

I';m going to use the motors from the 800 on this and then sell the 800 frame. Was only after the one heavy.

Will be saving up for the wookong next :D

That looks lovely!

You putting a FC on it prior to getting WKM?

Do Tarot state a lift capacity for this frame ?

Still need to get 8 ESC';s and two more motors so i will probably have the WKM by then too, hopefully.

It says on the Tarot specs that the frame is 1.6 kg and its payload is 8 kg.

That';s very light for a frame that size...nice one! Looking forward to watching progress.

The guy on my course has a takeoff weight of 12kg';s on his octo!!  :blink

1.6kg sounds heavy to me.  The CarbonCore Octo is 1080g, the Vulcan 900mm is 1154g and their 1200mm is 1378g.

Balders

I meant including motors and esc';s....sorry should have pointed that out.

SimonS

That';s fine but 8 motors and ESC';s sufficient to usefully lift 8kg are going to weigh close to 1.6kg on their own. You could just get away with 2814';s (approx 1200g with ESC';s) but it would need around 65%power to hover.

ddczwood

Where did you get the iRon man 1000, i found this one for $399, is there any better deal than this:

http://www.oomodel.com/tarot-iron-man-1000-tl100b01-8-axis-carbon-fiber-quadcopter-p-64775.html

it';s a bit over my budget :-/

shaktar

I was going to buy from them but they were out of stock.

It is a better price, i would e-mail them to see if they';re in stock and also ask if its the newer one with new motor mounts as they have changed them to these ones now.

http://www.tarot-rc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_97&products_id=946

So i now need to buy some of them as my motors are a bit to fat for the old ones.

nub

u do know what they say about guys with large multi rotors?  ;)

looks nice.
Point and click.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Balders

I had a similar issue with the motor mounts on my D6 hexa...they were too small for the motor mounts, so I ended up cutting my own out of 2mm fibreglass/epoxy sheet. Used a drill hole-cutter thingy and a template of the motor mount screw holes, managed to knock up 6 mounts in an evening and they are stronger than the originals.

So after quite some time i have now bought the rest of my bits to complete this. Just waiting for everything to be delivered now.

But something did turn up today, my new flight controller :D

http://www.facebook.com/TMadeImages.

shaktar

ESC';s turned up and caps too, so some soldering to be done :D

http://www.facebook.com/TMadeImages.

e.chipev

Nice, what caps are you going to use?
Are you going to mount esc';s close to motors?

Pic of what I did:

Two 63v 1000uf caps, will be sticking them near the motor yes.

been having problems flashing my esc';s though, i flashed with the latest bs.hex file for the F-40A and that started burning motors, so i went and used the 2012v which works, so there something wrong with the 2013V file.
I get all the simonk tones and it works but i get this error when i flash is that normal ?

We are looking at building an Ironman 1000 as well!

We are fairly new to understanding the power management stuff though and we aren';t quite sure how to go about it.

Beyond the frame, we are looking at the following for our Ironman 1000:

• Turnigy Nano-Tech 8000mAh 6S 25-50C Lipo
• Hobbywing Platinum 40A ESC
• Motors???
• Props???
• Power board???

Any tips? We are looking for quality parts which will give good power but honestly we don';t understand what motors we should match which which props etc

Also, I';ve seen in lots of Tarot builds as they provide them, little gold bullet connectors like linked below, what would they be used for? I keep seeing them be referenced. http://www.tarot-rc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65_90&products_id=1040

Lastly, beyond tarot-rc.com where do you buy your parts from?

Thanks and excited to hear more about your own build Shak.

shaktar

if your going to go with big slow turning props for more efficient then a low kv motors

Tiger motors are a high quality brand but do come at a cost

so something like

http://www.electriflite.co.uk/store17/index.php/motors/t-motor/mn4014-11.html
http://www.electriflite.co.uk/store17/index.php/motors/t-motor/mn4014-9.html

I am using the rc timer ones, http://www.rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=806&productname=

and am using there carbon fiber 15" props

The little gold connectors are used instead of a  Power board. so one of the connectors has all the positive wires plunged into it and the other negative. So there like hubs bringing all the wires into one single one for  each side.

Only other shop i bought my tarot stuff from is http://oomodel.com/

Error during writing flash.

A bit late reply but if you still haven';t sorted it out.. it should help
I got my flashing tool today and tried flashing the spare esc that i have(same as yours).. all went fine no problems at all.
try using ESC Flash Tool and bs_nfet.hex

Regards  :beer2:

shaktar

cheers.

I was told by some that the error is ok and they also get it, and the esc all start using the simonK tones and everything so that';s cool.

And i found the reason the latest file was burning motors was because there was an error with the program, even if you selected the BS.hex file it would load a totally different file XD. But they fixed that now with an update.
