Yuneec Typhoon Hex or alternatives?

After looking into a professional drone, and reading lots here and elsewhere I';ve decided a hex drone to me a much better choice.

I';ve seen the Yuneec Typhoon which looks very impressive.

Are there any others to consider?

I';m looking at something capable of thermal/survey payloads. Ideally a weatherproof drone, but this seems like looking for the impossible in any rotor configuration?

Welcome. Not wanting to put a dampener on things when you say '; thermal/survey'; you do realise that any flights made for business/commercial purposes need to be carried out by a suitable qualified person?
If it is for commercial use than it might be a good idea to look into the licensing requirements as that might help determine the spec of multi rotor you need and the process required to legally fly for commercial purposes.

If there is no commercial purpose in your ';thermal/survey'; then maybe have a look at the DJI Phantom or Inspire as there are a huge amount of accessories for them and you might find some weather proofing systems.

Happy Flying.
I try :-)

Thank you for your reply. Ruled out the DJI as not hex. The phantom also doesn';t carry survey/FLIR cameras. Specifically looking at hex, and something weatherproof (well more than is standard at least)

Yes I';m also aware of PFCO requirements for commercial activities. That is in hand.

You might get what you want by speaking to Peter King, he builds professional quality multirotors for users all over the world. His business is in the West Midlands and he does encourage new users to visit to pick up their new model; he also will test fly it with you and make sure you know the basics of how to control it.

The Y6 and X8 may be worth looking at in the professional series.

Hi NX1977. Welcome to the forum.

I seriously considered the Yuneec Typhoon H, until I saw it at the Drone Show in Birmingham. It was good, but nothing spectacular, yet expensive enough to make you stop and think.

If you';re really not into building your own, then Darrell';s spot on suggesting a professional custom-built approach. be sure to let us know how you get on  ~~

Your starting point should probably be the weight of the payload, and how long you will need to keep it in the air, this will determine the type of drone required. I suspect that for commercial purposes you';ll need something bigger than a Typhoon. I';m very happy with the Typhoon I fly (happier than I am with my Phantom), but neither of them are really payload carrying commercial drones. While Yuneec have announced a thermal camera and a larger version of the Typhoon, neither are actually available to buy yet, as far as I know.

You mean the H920 Plus? Saw this at the Drone Show and it does look good:

He might actually mean this thermal camera that fits on the Typhoon H: https://www.yuneec.com/en_GB/accessories/cameras/cgo-et/overview.html

flitetest did quite a good review on the Typhoon H. I was actually really impressed by it.

I meant the H560 and the camera.... but I think something bigger like the H920 might well be needed for a job like this.
