Here's a very good video by Marco from the Arducopter project demonstrating the new firmware release V2.6.1 using an APM2  ~~

MadMax

Thats very impressive he is very trusting letting it go so far away on its own  :o the auto landing didnt seem to go to well but the loiter was spot on even in the wind  ~~

Gav

Loiter looked good in the video!  I used a APM V1 and the loiter was not so good; 5 to 10 Meter box.  worked ok but wasn't very tight at all.   Wasn't sure if that was rubbish GPS module or firmware.  Anyway firmware has come on a lot since I've dabbled with it.
DJI Naza seems the one to beat right now though, albeit a bit more expensive.

Gaza07

Yea the naza gear does look good but there's not much to tinker with and I do like to tinker
And like you say it does come at a price but it works and very well to  ~~
The last port of Megapirateng 2.6 was quite a big improvement on earlier versions so it would seem  they are doing some thing right, I was intending to get the APM 2 as Ive seen good reports about it but, I m starting to think I might be better sticking as Iam at the moment and see what the 32 bit APM will be like, this hobby is changing so fast its hard to keep up with it all  ;)
