Battery voltage displayed on transmitter?

I built an f450 with apm 2.8, I';ve added the extra gps/arming lights with a buzzer and also a lipo tester. What I really want is to be able to read the voltage on tx as I got carried away the other day and lost power in flight. Do I just need a 3dr power module or something else, the transmitter is just a flysky 6.......
Thank you for all the help its priceless

You can do either the mod to the receiver, or use the module.

Either way will give the battery voltage onto the receiver.
Not sure about your module.
If you are using the iA6B receiver then you can use the FlySky voltage sensor.

Flysky FS-CVT01 Voltage Collection Module For iA6B
from Banggood.

The flysky solution works very well, I have quite a few of them

You can also set alarms on the Transmitter to give an audio warning when the voltage has dropped to a preset level.

You can also use them as a single cell or total pack monitor, depending on the TX settings.

So if I buy a ia6b and the voltage module it should just be plug and play? Thank you for the advice. With a 3s 5500 what sort of voltage would you set the alarm at?

Paul-H

Yep its just plug and play

It shows up on the TX screen as EXTV2

You set the voltage alarm in the Receiver setup section on the TX

Set Cell type Lipo 3 cell

These are the settings I use but you can adjust to suit your own requirements

LO 9.90v for total Pack Voltage or 3.30v for single cell voltage

AL 10.80v for total Pack Voltage or 3.60v for single cell voltage

HI 12.6v for total Pack Voltage or 4.20v for single cell voltage

The settings are fully adjustable to suit your own requirements.

Thanks for the info mate, lo and hi seem obvious but what';s AL?

Paul-H

""ALARM"

The voltage the TX starts beeping at

Sorry to resurrect an oldish thread, but how do I set the Cell type?
I can';t seem to find it in the menu anywhere.
I have an ia-6x (10 channel)
Thanks in advance.

Cheers for resurrecting this thread. I have installed the flight battery voltage module and have voltage display on tx but I didn';t realise I could set alarms. I will have a look later. The previous post mentions the settings are in the receiver section of the tx.

I will let you know how I get on with my i6 (with 10ch firmware hack)
I try :-)

I';ve worked out how to set the 3 alarms, but apparently there is a way of setting the cell lipo type also.
I just can';t find it anywhere, or I';m not looking in the right place !

I see. Found this : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=33606044&postcount=26 BUT I think it might only refer to a hacked firmware for the i6 not the i6x.
Anyway it shows a screen that you may or may not have?
I try :-)

yep, that';s exactly what I can';t find !
I think you may be right, and it is for the i6, which has been flashed with "benbojangles firmware" and it is not possible on the i6-x
So, what I';ve done is to set up 2 models, identical except one is called "3s" and the other is called "4s", then depending on which battery I have in the model, that';s the one I choose, because obviously the low alarms will be different between a 4S and a 3S battery.
Unless I';m missing a trick of course !

ched

The alternative may be to connect the voltage monitor to the balance plug across a single cell. That way your alarms can be setup for a singe cell and work no matter if you are using 3 or 4 cell. It does mean an extra connector when you change batteries and only monitoring a single cell might not be best but it is an alternative to remembering to switch between models on the tx?
Anyway, thanks for resurrecting the thread. I think I have the correct FW so I can now set alarms on the tx, which would be very helpful. Although my voltage sensor seems to read about 0.5v high which will need fixing!!
Thanks
I try :-)

Good point, and I may well end up doing just that.

Just to update the thread. I do have the fw hack that takes the i6 to 10ch. I can confirm that in the rx section on the tx you can set Hi, Al, and Lo voltage levels on Int or Ext Voltage sensors and set the type and number of cells. I have set voltage levels but not tested as yet.

Thanks for resurrecting this thread I had forgotten the tx could do flight battery alarms.

Glad you managed it. I have installed the voltage sensor on mine now, and set the alarms too.
Unfortunately (for me anyway) on the ia-6x, which comes as 10 channels from the factory, there is no way to set the cell count/type.
Begs the question, if the upgraded 6 channel Tx can do it, why can the 10 channel not do it?
Maybe a firmware update for the future? Who knows.

ched

I think the 10ch firmware hack for the i6 prompted FlySky to create the i6x. Seems weird that they didn';t copy the cell number bit, mind you I am not sure what advantage that gives you.
If you set the High level at 12.3 ish (Long time keeping the up button pressed) then the others could be set the others appropriately. Before I did that I could not get the low high enough as the Low has to be set lower than AL and AL has to be set lower than Hi. Well thats how it works on i6 +FW. There is also a value in brackets that is the single cell voltage which is nice.
I try :-)
