Zener Diode is it still a requirement when connecting ECS or BEC to power servos

Hi all

Just wanted to check I have read this correctly

With the Pixhawk used with a Tricopter or Aeroplane is it still a requirement to use a Zener Diode across the +&- pins when powering a connected servo using either the ESC or a separate BEC.

Also if it is still needed does the banded end of the zener go to positive or negative, if I read it correctly it should go to positive but wanted to check before I blow something up.

Thanks for helping a Noobie out.

It';s still a requirement, but only if using 5V servos. If using anything above 5.7V the Pixhawk won';t take backup power from the servo rail so there';s no point in conditioning it.

And yep, banded end to positive :)

My advice : A Zenerdiode is mandatory, when connecting servos (no matter what type), in order to protect your PX from voltage spikes generated by them .
