HELP about to sell the lot IRIS + and quit for good

Right I bought an Iris + last year and other bits of kit  Go Pro , Black Pearl everything I thought to watch as I flew it .watched loads of videos everyone had theres up and running in minuets I had all the kit they had leads monitor antenas put everything together but couldn';t get video to monitor did all that everyone told me still nothing . Then was told as mine was European it worked on 433mhz yanks worked  different is this why im getting no video is all the kit ive bought useless to me if yes were  will I get the correct kit I cant seem to find any of the kit im after to watch as I fly

The 433MHz bit refers to the telemetry radio - i.e. your groundstation link to a laptop/phone/tablet to monitor battery level etc - so nothing to do with getting a live video feed. If you';ve somehow bought a 933MHz version then you';ll want to swap the modules out for a 433MHz version as 900 is used for GSM mobile phone networks in the UK

Do you have any other transmitters/antennas on the IRIS? Because your post doesn';t mention if you have a video transmitter which will be required if you want live video. I see 3DR sell their own FPV kit for the IRIS which runs on 5.8GHz: https://store.3drobotics.com/products/3dr-iris-plus-fpv-kit-for-gopro-hero (power level exceeds UK max of 25mW though)

Otherwise you can use an off-the-shelf transmitter, but you';ll have to match it with the version of the Black Pearl monitor you have. If you have the 7ch version then you';re limited to the Fatshark/ImmersionRC band, so something like this will do: http://www.buildyourowndrone.co.uk/immersion-rc-5-8-ghz-25-mw-transmitter.html

You';ll also need a cable to run between the GoPro and the transmitter to get live video out: http://www.buildyourowndrone.co.uk/gopro-hero-3-usb-camera-cable-immersion-rc-fat-shark.html (can find cheaper ones on ebay and the like)

HTH

that';s the lead im after my go pro one hasn';t all those colours in its wiring I have everything else and my transmitter is the immersion rc your a star thanks il get that one ordered when I get out of hospital

Static65

Just had a quick look and the cable linked below is more suitable than the first one I linked. It allows you to power the GoPro from the aircraft so you don';t get sudden video loss if/when the internal GoPro battery runs out. It should fit the Tarot gimbal (I thank thats what the IRIS+ comes with). Conveniently your ImmersionRC transmitter has a 5V output that you can use to power the GoPro

stuart

the second one looks like the one im trying now but cant get working il send for the first one you put up it has all the colours that';s on the immersion  box and the plug on the will fit straight in were as the second hasn';t all the colours like other think its five on the first lead second hasn';t got white and this could be my problem

Static65

The first one only has 3 wires: Black is Ground, Yellow is Video, and White is Audio. Nice if you want audio, I was just concerned that it may not fit your gimbal, plus no power to GoPro (not essential but safer). It';s also pretty pricey for what it is!

The second one has 4 wires: Black and Yellow pair for Video/Ground and Black and Red pair for 5V/Ground. Both black cables should be commonly grounded so you should only need to connect one to the video transmitter. It';s very low profile so shouldn';t interfere with the gimbal.

The choice is yours of course, but I recommend the second one ::) There';s an ';official'; Tarot GoPro cable available to suit the gimbal, but it';s only a quid or so cheaper than the Fatshark cable.

Let us know how you get on, if you do hit any more stumbling blocks don';t give up! Just shout on here and I';m sure people will help ~~

There has been some noise about a (the latest?) GoPro3/4 firmware last year that disabled live video output on the USB port.  Could this be what affects you?

Read the log in the video description form a chat between a concerned customer and the support drone.

GoPro are trying to make it hard for third party companies to use their products on drones now that they';re entering the drone market... That makes a lot of sense. I had no idea this was the case as I';ve not used my GoPro for FPV in ages (too much delay/weight for 250 flying). Bar-stewards.

Ok Yellow is the Video out signal +
Black is Negative -
Red is 5V power in NOT 12V power in (I made that mistake :-( )

Just looked at your http://tinyurl.com/zkceyy3  it does not say video negative in! typical RC product manual You will need to connect gopro yellow to pin 3 yellow and gopro black or negative to the negative out i believe is black negative out - pin 5 (please check I cannot be held responsible for any errors or Loss)

Black negative is generally shared -

I do not use Audio I have in the past but found it not worth the wiring
Above is all you need for a video signal yellow and black, the red is only needed as a backup power source to maintain the battery
whilst testing the video out you only need connect the yellow and black to get a picture.

Hope that helps
