Okay, it';s a quad for now, but designed as a hex - just need a set of ESCs and two more props...

This was designed, purchased entirely from the hardware aisle of my local Wickes and constructed in one afternoon after getting exasperated about how expensive carbon is. I figured, what the hell, let';s lash something up and see how it goes!

I';ve still got some work to do - it needs the power distribution board and ESCs mounting, which involves a lot of drilling holes in that alu sheet, and I';m missing a prop from my set of four, so that needs replacing, and I need to throw some landing gear on it - I';m going for static landing gear using some more alu tube for now.

Motors are T-Motor MN3510-13 700KV, props will be 13x5.5 carbon. Control will be a Pixhawk+D8R RX running APM w/ 433MHz telemetry, gimbal is an Alexmos controller.

Total weight including the motors is 1.5kg. If I';ve got my maths right (ie, not cocked up eCalc), assuming the total frame when complete plus payload (simple gimbal+camera rig) comes in at 3kg, with a 10Ah 4S battery this should do 10 minutes of hovering with a 1.7 thrust-to-weight ratio. Make it a hex and that goes up to 11 minutes with a TWR of 2.3. If I then stick three 10Ah batteries in parallel that nets me a 20 minute hover time, TWR of 1.9 and an all-up weight of 6.8kg. Which is pretty respectable for a homemade camera platform on the cheap...
