Hi can anyone tell me if you can use a sma antenna on your Google and a rp sma antenna on the tx ?
At the moment this is a hypothetical question.....I am using a Fatshark fpv which at the moment have sma connections for the antenna.......however I have just bought another non fatshark tx and camera from bangood which doesn';t state the antenna connection so if it turns up as rp sma connections can I use my fatshark antenna on my goggles and a rp sma antenna on the tx or do both antennas need to match each other in which case I know you can get an adapter so could I put that on my goggles to convert my goggles to rp sma or will that not work ?

benno

you can, sort of.

I have a vtx with rp-sma, have a convertor to sma and then a pigtail to the actual sma antenna, works a treat.

not sure if this is possible, but a pigtail which also converted rp-sma to sma would be even better.

Kellarly

Yes. My Et200 vTx is rp-sma and my far shark goggles are sma. It makes no difference to the signal coming out of or being recieved by the aerial.

Thanks guys I';ve found out the vtx is infact a rp sma so I';ve ordered a rp sma pigtail then a rp sma to sma adapter then i can use my current fatshark spironet antennas and just convert the one that screws onto the pigtail using the adapter  ~~

any polarity converter is going to attenuate your signal, so you';ll lose range and punch. ideally you';d have as few connectors as possible on your fpv stuff so if you want best signal then you need to streamline how you connect things.

from your vtx you';d need a rp-sma to a sma-bulkhead pigtail. you can get one of these made quite easily if you cant find one to buy. that would be your best option and produce the least loss. try not to have any polarity converters on your goggles. that would be the worst kind of loss so try to buy the correct antennae to fit directly onto them.

it just makes sense

I think what he means is can he use rpsma and the tx side (on quad/plane) and sma on goggles. At least that';s how I';m reading it.

The answer is yes you can the rp or sma make no difference to the signal sent or received its just the type of connector.

If this isn';t what you meant ignore everything I just said :)

aburn09

yes xxpitt that was what I meant I';ll use my spironet antennas the one on the goggles is sma the same as the goggles whereas the one on the vtx would have to use a rp sma to sma adapter :)
