think its around 3 miles, but if your keeping things low and not doing anything daft like flying the flight line of the planes  i';m sure it';ll be fine.

NorcoT

Thanks nub. Roland would definitely like to check out those places, looking at the weather there';s only one window, Monday morning. Otherwise I can maybe do the weekend.

Roland Sausage

Next weekend would be better for me.  Gives me time to build up enough brownie points with the mrs to earn a day out.  I';ll also hopefully have new antenna and an extra magnifier for my goggles by then.

NorcoT

Haha i know that tactic well. Having a look at google maps it looks like we can park near the bing and walk in

I was out for a wee play earlier today.  I';ve swapped out my motors for Emax ones.  The ones I got with the frame were awful.  I';m fairly happy with how it';s flying but my stupidly short FPV range caused a crash when I lost signal at around 50m out.  No damage except a bent prop which bent back and flew on

Wee crash at the end of this one - hit a goalpost really clumsily.

nub

gah, unlucky was going okies until then too.

my immersionrc VTx is goosed, going to give this TS5823 a try but i';m not to confident about using it after what i';ve been reading about it

The Aomway 200mw mini vtx is supposed to be good from what I';ve read.

I tried new antenna today and it made little to no difference so I reckon my vtx is toast.  I';ve ordered another of the same so I can just plug and play but probably should have tried the Aomway http://www.banggood.com/AOMWAY-FPV-5_8Ghz-200mW-32CH-Wireless-AV-Transmitter-Module-p-947147.html

I have been flying immersion for 5 years now and the aomway kicks the 600mw in the buttocks...
in mho

Carbon Tricopter with KK2 mini because you have to own a Tri and Falcon Evo FPV (rebuild again) with fatshark 600mw vtx & pz2040 cam. New addition (hidden from the missus!) 250 quad.

nub

good price for it too, i had an Aomway 200mw and was quite impressed but never got the chance to fully test it, thinking i should have just bought another now, ach.

ive got a great TS5823, good range and penetration, still using it today 8 months on. my friends bought some on my recommendation and theirs were all pants. i bought another and it also was pants. we tried some aomway minis and theyve all been superb apart from one of mine died for unknown reasons. had a spare though so chucked it in as a replacement.
Round By Round Qualifying and Finals For All.

it just makes sense

Roland Sausage

Think I';m going to order up an Aomway for good measure  ~~

Roland Sausage

Got a replacement TS5823 in the post this morning.  Seems better in my indoor tests.  Got an Aomway coming too so I can compare.

NorcoT - you still up for some flying on Saturday or Sunday?

SlipperySquid

I think that around Edinburgh airport the restrictions include below 400ft?

It';s in blue so that';s nothing above 7kg according to the key I think? Says it';s advisable to contact the relevant authorities even if under 7kg.

You up for a wee trip nub? If you head through to me in Dunfermline I';ll drive us through to Niddry to meet up with NorcoT.

nub

aye i could be up for that, though i';d need to borrow the use of a car battery if possible to charge me batteries ::)

You can hook into mine as long as you';re willing to help me bump start it to get back up the road!  ~~

Hey guys, i could maybe do sunday if they weather pans out ok. I have to head down to the folks in Ayr to help out with a few chores this weekend but could join if its not too early on sunday. Nub are yoy local around this area too? Need to get a little group going, getting a little bored flying alone. I started trying some acro flips and rolls this weekend and learning to fly properly in manual, going well but definitely need some people to spur me on. Keep me posted.

On another note i tested out the eachine 200mw vtx on sunday, i got at least 200m out of them (if not 300+) and signal was perfect. I had a clover on the tx and skew on the rx. Not even fitted my power filter to it yet and still almost perfect. What a difference it makes having them on the correct channels! [emoji14]

One down point is the camera is crap when its bright sky, cant see anything when pointing at the sky. I got the ccd version of the eachine through the post so will try the new camera and see how it goes!

nub

hmmm localish  i';m in Kinglassie, but could do with a change of sceney, any time is fine for me.

Any particular time on Sunday best for either of you?  I';ll be up early so can go whenever.

I';ll be interested to see how your FPV gear performs.  I';m looking forward to improved range on mine too.

nub

anytime for me, i need to try out this VTx still hope it feking works ok, i';ve hooked it up to my dodgy 12V in fear of frying it with a 4S battery.

For me no earlier than 11am is realistic as Im coming up from Ayr.

Also I blew up by LiPo field charger and still awaiting a new one to arrive so I will only have the 5 packs with me, having to use my balance charger in the house. Any chance of sneaking in a few charges on either of yours on the day if needs be? Although 5 packs should last me an hour, if i';ve not broken it by then im usually happy, plus im down to 3 sets of spare props now.

I';ll warn you now, im still bit of a noob at flying FPV. I';m ok LOS. My FPV gear is fairly basic too, im on a monitor on a tripod.

So what location we heading for? Are you guys on FPV Scotland / google+? will have to add you

nub

anytime is fine for me, it';s up too you guys, set the time and i';ll get my ass through to Dunfermline for whenever

bummer about the charger your more than welcome to use mine, 5 batteries that';s not to bad, i';ve only got 2  and get around 4-5 min a pack.

have you tried goggles yet?

i';m on FPV Scotland, as nub (craig303uk.cd@googlemail.com, feel free to spam the email as i don';t use it) should maybe stick a post up there see if anybody else fancies popping along, hopefully it';ll be a nicer day tomorrow.

nub, if you';re coming via Cardenden how about meeting at McDonald';s Halbeath at 12pm so you don';t have to go right through Dunfermline.  We can get an early lunch there or get some sandwiches to take to Niddry.  Then it';s half an hour down the road to meet NorcoT at 12.30-40ish.

How does that sound to you guys?

nub

aye sounds good to me, shall see you there unless something changes.

nub

oh what video frequencies are you guys using?

well be less hassles for tomorrow.

NorcoT

Time sounds good for me, i can take my time :) hows the weather looking? And where we planning to fly / meet?

I think im on 5905 or 5925. Willl double check later.

I have used goggles a few times in the past, owned some predator v2s but didnt really get on too well with them so sold them. Would be interested to see what you guys have as a setup.

nub

ach i aint got nowt fancy as you shall see

it';s cool they';re not FS frequencies, think its meant to be a no bad day, hopefully warmish and not to much wind, i';m not sure you';ll need to ask the driver.
