I am not sure a 5 motor multirotor will work very well because in theory, like a tricopter, the yaw forces won';t automatically balance in the way they do on a quad or anything with an even number of motors and props, unless you plan on making one motor pivot like on a tricopter.

I look forward to seeing someone try it in reality though.

It';s being printed as I type this post, I had to re design it as I wasn';t happy with the servo placement.

i watched the flight test video with the first draggonfly. vector in tricopter mode on factory settings. flew a treat. Y leads on the left and right outputs, so front and middle motors are controlled together.

You going down the Y lead or Custom mix route?

If you are going down the Custom mix on CF I might be able to help. Not sure how it will handle YAW servo as well as the 5 motors though

Had a look at CF code for the mixer.

Can';t see how to use a custom mixer with a tail servo

Would need to add a new mixer to support the Pentacopter, with servo.

No biggie can throw one together next week if you want to try it.

Might be worth contacting David Windestål over at rcexplorer.se as I believe Stephen Armor created an updated firmware for Naze equipped tricopters

I think it was mentioned Stephen Armor is the guy who wrote the Steveis firmware for the KK board

The updated firmware for naze tricopters was basically a bug fix for the control/filtering for the yaw servo to improve responsiveness, which I now think is in CF master and a set of defaults to make it easier to get it running.

I did not see anything special in his code.

I';ll be going down the set it as a tri and use Y cables route, its much simpler than messing about with custom mixes, also I';ll be using a KK2, I forgot to mention it in previous posts.

The 3D printer has been the most used tool in this project

I think you might have problems pitching back as you will ahve 4 motors basically as a quad powering up and 1 powering down
It might just go up.

pitching forward should be ok as the 4 shut down and the back one ramps up but this may just fall from the sky as the overall thrust will plumet.

looking forward to being proven wrong and seeing the vids.  ::)

The new servo arrived, as did the Rx, the servo has been fitted to the tail mech, after a bit of oiling it works smoothly.


Its also has a coat of paint, I probably got more paint on me than the wood




and I pushed the go button on 3 meters of red LED';s

i just realised there was perspex in the centre. i thought it was possessed before that. nice pagancopter! shame it wasnt ready for summer solstice, you could have melted some hippies minds if you';d been near stonehenge.
