Cannot get PC to see USB for flight Controller

Hi Guys

I have a particularly challenging problem that I just cant seem to overcome. I have a new flight controller, but for the life of me, I just cant get any of my PC';s to see the USB connection. I have tried every single option in terms of connecting it (with battery, without battery, with absolutely everything connected, with just the usb connected). I have installed the drivers manually, but the pc just wont register a change on the usb ports.

I am wondering if there is anyone out there that has seen and solved an issue like this before?

Regards
Jeremy

If on windows, have you check device manager to see if there is anything listed. Also what flight controller is it? some don';t come with any firmware loaded, it might be worth trying to flash it.

Device Manager does not register a change to the usb ports. This is the problem.

Its a Jiyi P2pro

If the computer does not register anything attached to usb, it is impossible to flash it.

how do you connect a usb to it, on the piccys it looks like a servo plug for usb, do you use a bridge of some sort?

The LED module has the USB connection.

That looks a lot like a naza clone if it works in a similar way then you need the power module plugged in and powered as well as the led / usb connector,
I assume the usb socket is on the top edge of the led box ?

Please send us a pic if you can of it all connected up  ~~

I actually think its some sort of clone of either the PX4 or Pixhawk. It has the same features and works with a 3dr telemetry unit.

I have tried it with everything connected (that would be the power module, battery receiver, GPS) and still not had any luck. The Jiyi support team think it may be related to the LED unit at this stage, but unfortunately I don';t have anything to swap it out with and test...

I will get some more pics this eve

Any chance if a photo of the controller or URL from a stockist?

Here is a pic... The actual usb plug point is at the top of the LED unit.

Here is the link to the manufacturers site: http://www.jiyiuav.com/en/content-172.html

This link shows the connections: http://static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/5/6/5/7/2/6/a7950280-97-IMG_2861.JPG

So after being sent a new flight controller with usb unit and then discovering the old controller works with the new usb, I took to grinding out where the issue with the old usb/led module was. After a day of searching, I eventually discovered that they had a solder bridge in the micro usb connector between D- (data line) and Vcc. As a result the data line just sits at Vcc. Well that would make it pretty unrecognizable to any PC me thinks  :banghead:

Now to figure out how to get a skinny tip in there to remove the joint...maybe heat up the tip of a carpet knife...
