Quanum FPV

I had a telephone call last night asking me if i was interested in a Quanum FPV setup but being as i have tried the goggles type (which i could not take to) these had a polystyrene box that held the screen.

My thoughts were could this screen be used without the polystyrene holder so i could use the screen for just looking at and some how secured to the TX which would still allow me LOS flying which i like to do.

My friend said he knew where a complete set up was going for £50 but i was not sure how much it is to buy new so i said i will have a think.

They are used as he said he has upgraded so the £50 is not looking so good now.

As Darrell said, be careful.  For a brand new or like new kit it';s not a bad price.  The goggles on their own go for £20 ish on HK.  If it';s an older kit it might have the v1 VTX which is known to have video quality issues.  The camera is also sub par.

The screen is 4.something inches, not great to view at an arms length. Also, I';m not sure how well it would work outside the goggles, it may not cope well in broad daylight.  It works well in the goggles because of the fresnel lens and being fully enclosed.

I think he has had them for a while but if i did not get on with goggles there is no chance i would take to them in the box holder or whatever it is called.

I wouldn';t say that.  If you have a chance to try them on do it.  I remember some people saying they didn';t get on with goggles but these were much better for them.  I can';t compare as I don';t have goggles, but the screen is BIG when viewed in the Quanum box.

If you do like them consider getting just the Quanum new from HK, and perhaps a better VTX/VRX/camera combo if you don';t have any of those.

I think he lives down south somewhere so trying them is not an option.  :(

I';ve spectated using the v1 Quanums while someone else flew a 250. They';re not going to give you a fantastic fpv experience, but they are a low cost way to try it.
The V2 Quanums are now available on HK, although a bit more expensive due to various improvements over the V1s.  I will probably buy them so I can give fpv a go. Can';t see a more cost-effective to try it, as even a decent 7" monitor is more expensive than the Quanums.
Hubsan X4, DJI Flamewheel F450 with Naza M V2/GPS, but too scared to attach my GoPro Hero 4 to it:-)

I suppose I can wait for a cheap FPV TX, RX, camera and leads to come up for sale on here and get a screen later.
