sh0wtime

I had quite a decent visit from the postie today.
been jobless for a while so not really bought anything for ages (apart from four 4s 650's for my GTR349) last week but you can't really count batteries can you  :whistling:
in no particular order, some battery straps.
some ummagrip
2 runcam racer v3's
2 4s 850 Tattu R lines for the Gecko4
a set of 4 TBS Grinder v2's 207 - 2500kv
Tmotor F45a 4in1 ESC
Matek F722 FC
and last but not least an Ethix prop tool.
this was actually a nice surprise as i knew it had a 2 & 2.5mm drivers built in but it also has a 1 way bearing on the centre shaft to give a silent ratcheting effect when you're fitting/removing your props. quite a nice touch

Well, catching up with the lost EMax Interceptor.............

The first allegedly never even got to GLS in Spain from Banggood Warehouse Spain before getting lost (or stolen).

Then the LOOOONG delay convincing Banggood to resend.

Resend started 30/11, and it got to the UK 2/12.  HURRAH!!

And then..........

Parcelfarce have sent it to the wrong depot, where it was this morning.

I think DPD drivers should wear an elf's costume this time of year. They just delivered this from..  (there's a clue in the photo) can you guess ? 😂

I'll have a word with the nice young lady from DPD that delivers my packages from them, though Wonder Woman was more what I was thinking, I have so many from them that we're on first name terms.............   :D

Now That's a costume !! 😂 though not sure I want to see that on the blokes that deliver here lol.

Sweet Pickle

Been a bit spendy this week.

DJI Mini 2 Flymore. Don't even fly my Mavic Pro so no idea why I got one of these.
Skyzone 04O. Managed to sell my Fatshark so why not eh?
New Surface laptop for software tweaks in the field.
Another DJI air unit.
And a skin for my Tango 2 that's lost in the post... So not officially "what did you GET"

Bad Raven

Now there's a long idle thread!  3 Months!!

I got Mr DPD to deliver today:-

6x 350mAh stik 1S LiHV
6x 650mAh 1S LiHV

One of the 650's was under 2v.

I did the same when the Mavic Air came out, my original Mavic still gets flown at appropriate sites. The Mavic Air gets stuffed in a pocket when I'm out and about just in case.. ;)  I took it to Greece and had no problems, as long as you are flying with a bit of common the police don't give a stuff, they have more important things to deal with. Flying over archaeological sites will evoke their wrath though.

Doughnuts?  :whistling:

I'm now in possesion of most parts for a Nano Long Range (another DaveC idea). At least one flying buddy is also building, I have printed him a frame, with a couple more expected to follow. Not for "Long Range" but for a Geriatrics one design "Race" class.  We'll probably need the duration to complete a lap!!

1202.5 motors are somewhat thin on the ground, best I can find is alleged shipping by 2/4, and also awaiting VTX which is on way.

Did find amongst the no stocks one pce that wanted to sell me three.

Now also in posession of an EMax Babyhawk II HD (CADDX Vista) and another boxed CADDX Vista for fitting to my EMax Hawk 5. I "suppose" I should get an Air Unit for the 7", solely to see one operate and to have on board recording.  Suspended now on more progress due awaiting UK re-supply of DJI Goggles V2. :waiting:  :waiting:

has anyone bought anything from the HK EU warehouse this year?

if so, did you get stung for VAT/duty/handling/etc.?

thanks!

No order here, and not from Banggood Euro either. I'm actively avoiding anything from the Euro zone. Two German suppliers for Filament andWResin have def lost my business. One keeps sending me "we miss you" EMails!!

Banggood China is taking around 8 days (inc weekends) to get here for me currently, being picked up on tracking in this country by Royal Mail Atherstone.

One oddity I caught and ceased order at checkout was for small light Gemfan 3018's from Banggood China, as on order page it wasn't clear on cost, but postage option ONLY Euro Express. Over £9 postage for an under £3 item? I should Co Co!  Bigger heavier items from them I ordered that day were the usual £1 to £3 postage.

apollo7

postie brought the Hobao Hyper GT other day along with a grenade of a brushless and a hobbywing 8BL 150amp esc

Volantex Ranger 1600/2000, Ranger 1200 G2, Phoenix S 1600 AR900 Miniskyhunter, ZOHD Dart 635 and a few 680 batwings plus old faithful C1 chaser and a lot of eagletree guardians

Bad Raven

More like what the postman didn't deliver.

Could not find a convenient in stock supply for some motors, so ordered from Banggood, backorder, "expected to ship before April 4th 2021"

4th passed, 5th passed, etc, etc till it got to the 10th, when the message changed to 12th.

Then 14th

Then 15th

Then 16th

Now its gone back to ship by the 4th April 2021 again.

I did get a "we are sorry, we are applying pressure from the factory for delivery" about the 14th, and its not like stock has appeared in a better place, but its not encouraging when their system waves the white flag and gives up, is it!

And now those motors are showing ship by June 6th, so maybe....................  :crossfingers:

Had some other bad supply experiences last week and this:-

Babyhawk II HD arrived last week, set up, got to stage of checking motors, and Motor 4 ran briefly and stopped. No abnormal noise, no smell from AIO board or motor, nothing visibly wrong.

REKON 3 Nano arrived today:-

Propellers are wrong size central bore for motors, oversized,  so motors only locate on bolts risking out of balance.

Card shows props out.  Betaflight shows props out.  Motors 1-3 run props out

Motor 4 runs props IN    :slap:

BLHeli won't connect AIO board.

NOT happy  :banghead:  :banghead:

Bad Raven

I managed to get the motor plug off the AIO board without dismantling it, it JUST was able to be flexed enough to clear the body cage. Swapped two wires in the tiny plug so OK now.

Bad Raven

Technically two flight maidens today, the REKON 3, and the EMax Hawk5 now fitted with Caddx Vista.

REKON 3

If you read around on this quad, it stated life as a 3D print your own frame attempt at a Nano sized "Long Range", or more accurately "Long Duration", then Dave_C decided to team with HGLRC and make a ready to fly one.

I got the parts except motors wwhich were OOS to make one, and then pandemic delays have meant still no motors many months on, so I pre-ordered a RTF, which has carbon arms, but the rest is much the same.

It's getting VERY diluted reviews from the mainstream guys like AndyRC and JB.

SO, I today flew mine for the first time, and only flew two 1S 18650 batteries.

For over half a hour in the air!!   And I could have stretched it longer.  :blink

Is it worth bothering with?  Well, I could be cynical and say its main in role in life will be to get my own back of the flight rotation stalwarts at the field, those who fly long flights refusing to allow me any leeway in that that usually 3-4 mins and I'm down at the "end of my turn".

Is it fun? Yes. Is it 3D? basic aero's are on, best at the start of a battery. Is it robust?  It's a 140mm that weighs only 65 grammes, what do you think?

It has a fair turn of speed flying circuits, and its quite agile despite carrying a 3300mAh cell.  Best down low over grass, and not 100 feet up like one reviewer was when he deliberately "tested how long it would fly".  Its near silent so should not offend anyone not constantly professionally offended (thats half the population then).

So far, I like it.

Now to the Hawk on Digital.  Err, yes, well, do you want to know how many blades of grass there are on our landing patch?  I could likely tell you If I'd bothered to count them as it flew by. Ye Gods, its a clear enough image to, and I'm used to a very good clean analogue image!

No chance to explore transitioning close and through the trees today, maybe tomorrow.   :whistling:  :azn  I don't think a single video I have watched truly does it justice.

PropsToYou

Some of you may remember me from the earlier days of this forum. I think I joined here when I was still flying an old Flamewheel F450 I'd built (before upgrading it to an F550) back in the days.

That obviously quickly evolved into a passion for FPV but as my profession is a documentary cameraman, I inevitably ended up flying cinematic rigs. Until very recently, FPV wasn't really an accepted art form in broadcast and so pretty much all my flight time ended up moving over to cinematic drones, with just the occasional throw around for a fun FPV flight.

I'm now back in the game and decided to go digital and invest in a full new setup for work. As a result, this week has featured a never ending onslaught of FPV goodies...

  • iFlight Bumblebee V3 HD
  • iFlight Nazgul 5 HD
  • iFlight Chimera 7 HD
  • TBS Crossfire nano RS SE's for each of them
  • DJI Goggles V2 with spare battery and XT60 adaptor
  • 2x Patch antenna for the goggles
  • 4x stubbies for the goggles
  • TBS Tango 2 Pro
  • SkyRC Q200 Charger
  • Toolkit RC M7 charger & AC supply
  • 2x GoPro Hero 8's with full sets of Camera Butter NDs (Plus a set for my old GoPro 7 too)
  • A metric f**k-ton of LiPos
  • A load of spares and extra bits and bobs
  • A TS100 soldering iron
  • A Laowa 7.5mm for my Inspire 2

I think it's safe to say, I'm now broke...

Quite a list!

Be very very very VERY careful with the v2 goggles, nanoseconds of sunlight in the lens and goodbye Vienna.  IMO ridiculously sensitive.  Seems to be affecting current batch of V2's more than previous, even to people being super careful.

PropsToYou

Thanks for the heads up. Luckily I'm very familiar with the risks of direct sunlight on the lenses of kit like this so I know to be careful. Interesting that recent ones are suffering more, possibly they've changed the lenses in them? Either that or the screens are less heat resistant I guess.

NICE!  Start a thread on the Tx and tell us how you get on.

I notice the latest FrSky "top of range" Tx is D16 and Access, with 2.4GHz and their long range 900Mhz built in, but has NO multiprotocol module nor a JR slot to fit one. So, they continue to discover ways to lose themselves sales.

2m wing set for my Ranger 1600 to make it into a Ranger 2000

I found it by chance on HK as I'd been rather un-keen to buy from BG since the original plane came in a box that looked like it'd been run over by a forklift.

I just need 4x servos to put in & then flaps, crow, etc. here I come - I even found a video on how to program them in iNav:
