Quote from: badger1 on Wednesday,October 07, 2020, 13:06:02 nice of the postman to bring you some flyable weather  :D

He's not that good with weather, but he is good a delivering packs to me, currently I'm on GNB 1500 and 1800 4S, proving to be robust and able to stand my brutal battery "management".   :D

shawdreamer

couple of things turned up from china land this morning which will help reduce my boredom for a while....
smart" border="0

couple of compact bluetooth receivers Ill use to convert mine and my missus favourite headphones into a wireless setup, just means I can shove my favourite youtube channel on and toddle off round the house doing my various things while nodding along to my tune'age :D, should keep me busy project wise for a day or two.... in the meantime Ill see how this stacks up to what banggood claims....

smart" border="0

a little 65mm fpv chuckabout they sent me for review (Im actually just pleased to be asked to review something I actually have knowledge on rather than the usual random stuff they keep offering me for review , though saying that the missus really really wanted me to accept the review request for a foot spar a few weeks back, ended up having to buy her one from argos to shut her up in the end  )

few details....

GoolRc t36s (iirc)
supposed to be beginner friendly plug'n'play (cough my arse cough)
F3 controller, CF or BF setup (though I found the onboard firmware was massively outdated on CL and only BF would connect)
comes with either FRSKY or FLYSKY receiver and supposedly takes a couple of seconds to connect to either TX (they failed to mention the channel mapping was completely out of whack and none of the standard maps were correct meaning the end user had to pretty much remap the channels themselves..... hence the earlier "coughing" fit)

yet to give it a good run (supplied battery is crap....two minutes flight time max by my estimate) but the camera is surprisingly good and more than adequate for a bit of housebound fpv'ing I recon.

Components of that 65 look extremely similar if not actually the same as the Eachine sold as the "Small Pepper", but with the FC moved a trifle upmarket.

That was sold with a Transmitter and a tiny headset with fixed (and quite poor) focus ability for western shaped faces.  (OK once stretch and faceplate modded)

It was an Eachine E010 as far as the motors and frame design (but made of more flexible lighter material). It did not have a mainstream FC format, but did actually work quite well. The FPV camera image part wasn't bad.

You have to roll back a couple of years plus to that model, and that would fit with your "outdated" firmware on this different version.  It looks to me that somehow this updated version got "parked" and has just been found festering in a corner of a chinese warehouse and put out there.  :D

For the record, a couple of the kids bought after seeing the one I had (and still have in  working order despite their best efforts!)

shawdreamer

the e010 was a very restricted purely toy quad (you literally got what came out the box, which tbf was fine for a toy), if nothing else least this gool thing can be thoroughly tweeked and adjusted via baseflight/cleanflight.... plus you can use your own TX rather than one of those kidney bean controllers or buying a multi protocol module ~~

oh and just finished with the bluetooth stuff too....

they work great (more so than expected), very clear audio, will run all-day long off a sony miro battery I salvaged from one of my missus ancient phones (which can be charged via the board usb port), plus as it also got a built in mic it works great with Alexa/google assistant to control all the various home automation stuff Ive got about the house.... occurred to me as I was building it into the simple pebble like housing I printed that I could also build it into some form a tabletop 3d printed decor item or abstract interesting looking nick nack

The "Small Pepper" was the E013. This was completely different to the E013S which was translucent white frame and did have full firmware load ability.

The others were the E010 which as you say was 6mm motors with dedicated firmware (though some people did design and load others!). The other thing is that the Tx  and FC Rx have been revised FIVE times over the years, with improving performance each time (and more at once ability).  A Rev 5 Tx will NOT bind to Rev 3 or below.

Then the E011 which was a great improvement for adding FPV since it was 7mm motors so a lot more torque. While the frame looked the same as the E010 apart from the mootor size, it was actually made by Bayang and used their protocol. This has vanished, sadly.

As most top Tiny Whoop pilots were using stability mode not acro, once the "kidney" Tx was fitted with extended length sticks, it was transformed, and if you loook around RCG and IntoFPV you will find people asking how to make the Inductrix fly like a E010, especially its stability when being stopped/slowed quickly.

Are you aware that later versions of Betaflight are by 65mm micro quad race pilots widely considered as poor for Tiny Whoops, as the prime target was 5" and Acro. This was what spawned Project Mockingbird, Silverware, etc, etc.  From reading a lot on that size machine, the last Betaflight considered as really suitable was 3.5.x, so be careful, that "out of date" firmware it came with might be the best available!!  :azn

Incidentally, I have thrashed people on indoor ccts with up to 75mm Indy's with E011's with the only mods being Tiny6 cameras and Eachine VTX's, though the Horus X12S and M/Module certainly helps!!

I have had four E010 delivered this week so far!! (for conversion to Tiny Whooves/Whoovers), and yes, one did come today, so I'm not off topic............. TEE HEE.............

I was tempted to try updating the FW when CL struggled to connect on anything above 2.0, infact I think I ended up dropping down to 1.8 before I got anything like a stable connection, anything even slightly above would only respond to CLi commands at best.

Then just on the off chance I dug about in the cobweb filled dusty recesses of my hard drive and found a Baseflight install from god-knows-what-decade and low and behold it connected first time without drama and seen as it offered access to all I really needed I just went with that.... besides, Ill probably be bored of flying it by the time I actually find a more up to date firmware that actually works well with it  :D

for the time being though Ill be happy enough just removing its locked in angle mode setting as its certainly got enough guts to handle being thrown around alot more than its current angle mode allows for, wouldnt hurt to dig out the box of higher cap 1s's Ive got knocking about somewhere too because the 2 minutes FT on the stock batteries is quite annoying plus they have a alarming habit of showing no signs of low voltage level sag when the batteries low which usually see's your frame slowly lose altitude and drift down....instead these buggers just literally cut out

I think the result of what arrived today from Banggood is likely to blow their "No Understandee" fuse!

I bought a couple of spare Rx/FC for the Eachine E010.  These have arrived with red PCB and Rev5 marking, NOT as advertised and pictured.

Rev5 has so far only appeared with me on UK sold JJRC H36.

I have received four Eachine E010 from Banggood in the last few days, 2 fron CN, two from CZ. All four were Rev3 green boards in Tx and Rx.

The Rev5 RX HAS to have a Rev5 Tx to bind. Previously any Rev up to Rev3 would work together. (The bind light flashes at a much slower rate on a Rev5)

Ergo they are selling spares that DO work, but not to any of as advertised to the E010's they sell, even currently!!

Oh Dear............. This could run and run...........  :D

I have an EMAx Interceptor on order, hoping it will be OK on a Vinyl floor for my school club.

Longer run time and cheaper than a 1/12 Mardave, so more parent friendly

A top-up on my stock of DAL Fold props, 6" and 5", which I really like.

Friend's 5" Sport Hawk caught a leafed end section of an Oak branch the other day and it just kept on flying despite the loud thump. Extremely minor marks to trailing edge where the blades folded back briefly.

One of my Interceptors is in West Germany DHL, the other in East Germany as they wend their merry way from Cz to me.

Bad Raven

Both Interceptor cars arrived today and have been tested.

Points:-

The battery bay is held by a screw and two tabs on the underside. This is not ideal from the point of view of battery changing.

The car has a USB lead and an onboard charger, but the bodyshell (on three pins) has to be removed to access it.

There is quite a bit of leeway on battery size. (Supplied is 300mAh 1S)

The GNB 520mAh and Nano-Tech 550mAh do NOT fit, too long, but the EMax 450mAh 1S as supplied with the Tinyhawk Race II and Tinyhawk Freestyle I and II DO fit as does the GNB 650mAh 1S (because as I have said elsewhere, the GNB 650 is actually shorter than the GNB 520!!)

They both operated well with only steering trim straight from charge, default video on 5745 into my goggles as I only bought the car and transmitter option.

The track rod ball joints and track rods look to be minimal on strength and the likely fail point if run into things at speed. Need spares!

Might buy one with the headset option to see its quality or lack thereof.

ched

Mine has now 'progressed' to Belgium!
I did watch a few vids saying the 450's fit which is handy.
How are you finding battery life and do they run ok on carpet?
I try :-)

Quote from: ched on Thursday,October 29, 2020, 12:27:39 I did watch a few vids saying the 450's fit which is handy.

I have a mixture of carpets from low pill stuff similar to that sold for RC car racing through normal single tufted quite dense to patterned longer pile with some looped in pattern. They run across all OK, though the light weight (they are actually ballasted in the nose) on the pattern "bumops" can cause jumps a little at the front end when turning fast. Have not tried with the heavier 650 yet.

Duration? No idea yet.

I note on EMax website that spares are or will be available, but they charge a lot more than Banggood for postage, and $8 part suddenly becoming over $20. One "spare" I noticed was a white pattern (Have blue and red with yellow on way) and a transparant one for own painting (Which I'm used to doing on polycarb car shells and quite attracts. I'd have bought a few but they do not have stock.  The front axle parts are all in one pack with the servo, not bad price, but not good if postage only on that part, needs bigger order.

Need to see if the lap counting transponders will be OK, should be as they run in the Whoovers on a 65mm quad chassis with four motors from only 150mAh.

(   Might be best for a Mod or Gary to start a thread for these and transfer these related info posts so far??  )

If I had confidence that I could split the thread I would do it   Best leave it to someone who is confident  :D  :D

Last week I got a couple of GNB 1550mAh 4S, which have suddenly appeared with unusual yellow labels, completely different style to recent. First chance to fly them today and very impressed, my 5" Hawk went very close to nine minutes on each one, this with a frost on the ground where the sun had not got, and as my spotter said, "you were not hanging around"

I was getting over 1300mAh out of them before the average cell voltage dropped under 3.6v even under load and they came down the same temp they went up.

SO, have just ordered four more, though two for flying buddy.

With HobbyRC's 5% off they are £17.10 each

The bad news was that I wanted a pair of high capacity 18650's for a larger Goggles battery box which arrived today, but they were OOS.

Bad Raven

The other week I saw that Banggood had a long lead Goggles Battery Box that took two 18650's.

My EV300D's have a rear strap holder but the 3300mAh packs (shrink wrapped 2 x 18650) I have been using still do not last a complete session, they seem to have capacity, but sag without a rest, and of course neither did the 1800mAh packs it came with.

Doing some more looking around I found one 18650 which claims only 3200mAh BUT capable of 10A continuous, so bought the box and two cells as a trial.

The box was around last week, and the cells arrived today.  Tomorrow they get a good test!

shawdreamer

your goggles running 2s voltage?

if so I recommend the battery pack that comes with the eachine Vr007 box googles, while the actual goggles are mediocre/reasonable the battery they come with is cracking, Ive previously ran 2-3 good length sessions on one charge (micro usb inbuilt charge port) and used it with other box's/gogg's (plus the nice little level indicator on the top saves you getting caught short mid session ~~  )

Thanks, yes, 2S, but I have a V007Pro, and while as you say the battery is very good, its only 1600mAh.  The EV200D's are good goggles, but with DVR and TWO receivers, each dual, plus fan, they do take battery charge! Also my sessions tend to be 10 to 15 quad batteries long interspersed with spotting flying buddy! They are quite slow to boot up esp when the DVR is needed, so I sometimes leave them on and just pause the DVR.

The std batteries for the EV200D are "intelligent" units with USB and indication, but as said are only 1800mAh.

The box I have just bought is also "intelligent" (Ha Ha) with indication, USB and direct charging, but is end hinged to accept std separate 18650 cells so in theory can get updated as bigger capacity 18650 become available.

I have VR006 (not good), VR007Pro (quite good) two headsets made from a housing on a car reversing screen (customised a lot with replacement expensive VRX and quite good), a HK Cyclops (v good for the price), a pair of EV100's (OK) and the EV200Ds which I like a lot apart from their attempts to drain the national grid and suck Dungeness Nuclear Power Station dry.  :lipsrsealed:

I'm fence sitting and building funds for possible Digital.          :waiting:

20 double pole double throw switches, exciting, Eh!! (To add to 10 I already had to test if OK)

And tomorrow, 15 DIN 5 pole sockets and 5 DIN plugs, cable clips and 100m of flex twin.

Now all you have to do is work out what for.............    :whistling:

I'm fighting Banggood at the mo, they say they have shipped an EMax "Interceptor" from Spain warehouse, local courier says they have been notified its on way to them on the day order, but its not arrived with them. One week delivery advertised (and still advertised), now over three working weeks and they refuse to act for another week.

Sweet Pickle

Waiting for my Skyzone 4 to drop in.
Sold all my goggles when I went DJI digital, then despite doing the internal analogue mod decided I need another set for whoop/indoor flying.
My stupidity grows, despite hating Fatshark and always preferring Skyzone (owned 4 sets of Skyzone and 3 fatshark in the past) I recently purchased a set of Fatshark HDO's. The definition of insanity has never meant anything to me... What do you know I hate the HDO's too. Who would have thought it?
Skyzone are in the country somewhere but not in my grubby little hands.
If anyone ever hears me say I'm thinking of buying fatshark again you have my permission to stab me violently through the eyeballs.

Condensing somewhat, "the dvr is naff and menu not user friendly"

A slightly amended quote, but IMO ALL the makers units have iffy menus and ALL the installed DVR's invariably disappoint greatly.

I like my Eachine EV200D's but the DVR is poorer quality and even turning it on is an adventure in patience, as its a down press on a button that up/down/left/right does other things, and you have to hold it down without any sideways movement for AAAAAAGGGGGEEESSSSSS before it turns the damn thing on............ WHY???     :slap:

AND, that's not actually starting recording, that's another press.

ALSo, Why are they so resistant to fitting power switches?

Why are batteries always provided that don't have enough duration?

Why is the foam etc face protection/seal never good enough to last, or for that matter fit without modding?

I used a pair of HDO's briefly, it was like looking into binoculars the wrong way round with vaseline smeared over the lens.  The EV100 was just as good or just as rubbish, but at least they were cheap !!!!!!!

I have the ev100 and HDO2. The addon DVR for the ev100 records better quality than the Fatshark one! Don't get me wrong the image is huge, great quality and nice and bright. Plus they do have a power button  :D The foam padding on the HDO2 is very good, comes with 2 different thicknesses and wedges. Mine are coming up for 12 months old and padding still looks great. The ev100 on the other hand the suede type covering only lasts a few weeks before it starts peeling off. The EV100 are amazing value for money but the HDO2 are five times as expensive so they should be better in most if not all areas.

Fatshark usually just change 1 thing with each new model, which up until recently I can understand as there was little real competition. So they did HDO with new type of display, same casing same dvr etc. Then the HDO2 did have more changes i.e. screens, power button and the magic focus system. Fatshark know their dvr isn't good and drops frames but they didn't do anything about it as it kept their profits up and gave them something to fix next year. SharkByte is starting to look good, hopefully they are not too late. I like that they fit og the front of the goggles, so should, with a bit of tweeking fit most goggles with hdmi inputs.

I was just trying to point out the Fatshark DVR isn't great and, from what I have seen the SkyZone menus are more user friendly.

Everyone has their own views and it's great to hear them all.
