immersion rc 25w question

Hi folks.  Been thinking about buying the immersion rc 25w vtx.
What the difference between this and the 250w other than the power? 
Looking to possibly add this to the phantom.

I';ll stamp the regular disclaimer, in the UK only 25mw on this band is legal 

If you want a good distance with 25mw then you will need a Patch antenna and polarised antennas, if you have this you can in theory get about 300meter range with a 25mw setup.

When it comes down to the power, it must be doubled to achieve any increase to distance, for example 25 x 2 = 50.

Thanks mate. Can you just use the normal immersion rc antenna?
I won';t be flying very far anyway. Just for a bit of aerial photography

I wouldn';t advise using the standard antenna as it';s only linear, especially only with 25mw, but of course it';s up to you and it might be enough for what you want it for

If thay are the dipole ones that come with the kit you will want to up grade to spironet antana or like Gavs ones on the forum  .I have same vtx and couldn';t get more than a football pitch away with the dipoles and picture was rubbish as soon as I upgraded them to fatshark spironet wow what a difference  and probably get more than 300m with good solid picture on goggles hope this helps

Yep that';s the ones but I got them before I started using the forum I would have probably got a set from gav if I had done more recharging but have started making them for myself now first attempt not to shabby

with clover leafs i managed 527m on a boscam 10mw. I would of thought you should be able to do more with a 25mw

It was a rough estimate, plus many factors effect the range of a VTX, for example moisture in the air and other environmental factors, still anything over 300m on 10mw is certainly impressive!
