Hey guys.

Sorry for all the questions again.

I just sold my DX6i so I can get a Tx with more channels. And use the RTH functions better. I hear people talking about getting an open source Tx like the turnigy 9x or 9xr. So you can hack them. (Or something like that).
Are they a good Tx to go for? The 9xr says it comes without a module. What';s the nodule do and where do you get them from? Can you get a better range with these?
Cheers

You could try a good second hand  Futaba 9CAP/9CHP. (Google it)  Plenty of knobs and switches on those.   The module plugged into the back of one of these converts it to a 2.4 (with the correct 2.4 rcv)r.  Otherwise, without the 2.4 gear  it you can use it on 35mhz with appropriate receiver and crystals.
Let's be careful out there.
SAFETY is.. NO accident.

I';ve just got a Hitec Aurora 9 c/w 7 channel full range receiver from Airtek for less than £200 absolutely superb tx and has telemetry functions plus you can get Frsky clone rx';s for a good price and you can also use different modules (that';s why you';ve got an external wire from module to aerial). All in all it';s very flexible like the 9x';s but with better support.

Sounds good but the 9X is only £30. And apparently is on the same level as a lot of the expensive ones.
Has anyone got a 9X? What';s your thoughts on them?

I have a 9x, bought it because all the info I read says that once flashed with er9x it has features that you only get from a much more exepnsive unit.

Quality can be very suspect, mine rattled on receipt, the main board was supposed to be secured by a longish screw, it however was rattling about inside. Just remember how much you are paying for it, "you get what you pay for"

Needs a couple of mods to allow reflashing, and telemetry etc, not that hard to do if you can handle a soldering iron, but there is a plug and play board available if you can';t, once you manage to get the TX apart (some screws were real difficult to undo)

Does what I need and more i';m sure, i';m happy with it.

If you can find some one local who has one go and have a look and hold it see how it feels and maybe go to your local model shop and compare some of the other brands, buying a new tx is a big decision and you need to just do a bit of homework so you know you have made the right choice  ~~
