Need my S1000 checking over

Can anyone recommend an expert of S1000';s fitted with A2 and a GH4 gimbal and iOSD

I can communicate with the A2 and Gimbal but not the iOSD. Everything is connected as per the A2 manual but no video output from the FPV camera on AV1 and nothing from the Gimbal, not even the tilt.

I';ve scratched my head so much it hurts and can';t see the wood for the trees anymore

Happy to pay beer tokens or old fashioned coin :)

So what do you mean by communicate, are we talking about the dji assistant software, and is that via the usb cable ?
I';m assuming you have a video transmitter on board with fpv camera... does that work without being routed via the iOSD ?
Not sure what you mean when you say you can commnicate with the Gimbal BUT also say nothing from the Gimbal, not even the tilt.

As Alan said, you';ll have to clear up what you mean by communicate, do you mean that you';re getting input from your transmitter on your A2 and Z-15 GH4? Or is it just a connection in the assistant software?

Where abouts are you located? I suppose it';ll depend on whether someone will physically be able to check it over for you.

Sorry guys, I can communicate to the A2 via the software assistant and see my transmitter actions within the software (moving switches etc).

The transmitter is the DJI one connected to the IOSD mack Oi via the ribbon cable.

And in assistant, you have switched on the gimbal control ?
and is the gimbal not moving "not even the tilt" OR is it you don';t get any video data output from the iOSD for the gimbal

You need to ensure the iOSD is on the correct canbus (there are two buses)




Also you need to ensure you have matching firmware versions... also gimbal needs separate cables from RX for control.. or map channels through A2, (do not turn on gimbal control on A2 as that is for simple servo gimbals).

Also meant to say the iOSD needs a separate channel from your RX to change video channels..


Can you post a diagram or pic of your cabling ?

Hi folks

The wiring is exactly as posted above and the Tilt is mapped to port F2 on the A2 and gimbal control is turned off in the assistant software.

On the gimbal itself I';m getting no video output through the iosd and the LED on the front is contant. All firmware';s are up to date.

I';ll get everything connected and post a video :)

Just so we are all clear... I';m still figuring out if its only the video output you don';t have or not

The Gimbal doesn';t move ?

AND has it ever and stopped ? or is this a new setup

List of issues
No video output from gimbal
No control of gimbal from mapped channel (tilt)
LED on gimbal stays constant (front LED)
IOSD Mack ii does not connect to PC and no light on (next to power input) even though there is voltage there

Maybe a faulty iOSD , what if you disconnect that to take it out of the equation and see if Gimbal starts to work
OR disconnect the Gimbal and see if the iOSD works

Really anything on that can bus could stop the entire bus from working, so logical step would be to strip it back to 1 item and add others until a problem is encountered , maybe start with the gps and nothing else

Funny thing is I thought I had a dodgy iosd but I got a brand new one and still the same. Removed it and still the gimbal not responding

Don';t know the A2 but could try disconnecting everything but the FC connect the video set-up and see if you get anything then add the additional items 1 at a time until it stops working, then disconnect the last item connected see if you get it working again that will give you an idea on whats dragging it down??

repeat for the gimbal, rinse and repeat.

I believe on the bottom right, at the back of the mount for the camera there';s an AV/HD switch, tried changing that over and seeing if your video feed changes?

Ah, missed your post about swapping out the iOSD!
I had one that refused to play ball, sent it back in the end, used a mini, which did work.

also it is vital all leads for the gimbal are connected to the reciever or it just wont work , you cannot just connect tilt and pan etc they all have to be connected !!

Not sure where you are based, however we have all the equipment needed to test the S1000';s in the office, we build lots of the s900';s and s1000';s with all the gimbals and know the systems very well.

A system we had a system in the other day with the GH4 was not providing the video, the fault was found to be in the gimbal and was causing damage to the HDMI AV board, there was no way the customer would have solved this issue as there was two items failed at once, one causing the other. Within three hours the system was diagnosed and ready to leave with a new GH4 gimbal that was needed.

If you are stuck, let us know. We are back in Monday morning in the office from 9 till 5pm.
