Hi folks,

Decided to join the ranks of the 680pro camera ship brigade.

I';m ready to pull the trigger on all the parts that I don';t have already.

Quick run down of completed set-up:

680pro frame
apm
3dr telemetry
Vtx
FrSky x8r
afro 30a
tarot gimbal v2
SJ4000
13x4props
and 3s in parallel to start with .

spent hours on eCalc and just fried my head .

anyhoo , im torn on motor choice to the point of distraction , its driving me nuts    :banghead:

my choices are, in no particular order:

Emax MT 3506 650Kv in UK @ £23.50 a pop ---- www.radioc.co.uk
Emax MT 3510 600Kv in UK @ £25.00 a pop ---  www.radioc.co.uk
Multistar Elite 4006 740Kv     @ £22.60 a pop HK international warehouse

Taking shipping into account there';s not much in it ,but may get stung for import duty with HK.

thanks for taking time to read  ::)

all advice greatly appreciated

Cheers  :beer2:

I';m building a very similar setup but I';ve gone for the Tarot motors as they were built for the frame! Esc';s are 40Amp and 4s setup for my Pixhawk clone. Batteries will be 5000 mah.

Good luck.

Hi Jimbo ,
These motors were my original choice due to price and Kv . but after reading up on here and RCgroups it was evident that the motors were not happy and even self destructive on 4S , it seems the data from tarot is a little exaggerated.

They seem to work fine on 3s but overheat tremendously on 4S, as i plan on using 4S eventually i have decided to overlook these motors .

Not a huge thread but makes interesting reading,

Ok,
A friend of mine has 4s on the Tarot motors and no issues.

I will check them out and if they do get too hot then they';re outa here!

Cheers.

I have a 680Pro with the Emax 3510 - fly';s really well on 4s. I use CF 1355';s and  F30a';s flashed with SimonK, touch wood I have never had an issue  :crossfingers:

BTW: I got them from RadioCC, turned up really quick and when I bought mine there was little in the price from oversea';s.

Can I trouble you for your battery and flight time info ?

Its a bit of a fat boy, FT is about 15mins - that said I haven';t actually kept it up till the packs are empty.  I have a cheap servo gimbal fitted as my brush less packed up! I love the frame, fitted the Tarrot landing gear too which is a bargain at £20 - If nothing else it looks impressive!

Cheers, Mike

Emax 3510 everytime !! You will need to run on 4s batts though !!! The 3510 on 3s will be underpowered and pretty whooley on the controls... The3510';s will run on forever on the 680 and will carry a good 1kg payload using 1255 props...and return about ten mins flight time from a single 5000 mah lipo... Hobbyking sell a hardcase 5000 20c batt for 16 quid which is so cheeeaap !!! I have built a slack handful of these now and the above are my preffered choice along with DYS 30amp esc this is such a reliable platform...

life is too short to worry about what others think !!!

Dr Phibes

Seems I';m in the same club here, just getting to the end of my 680 pro build and looking forward to first flight tests (when it gets a bit warmer!). My power train config is: APM (HKPilotMega); Emax MT3510; ZTW 30a Spider ';Optos';; 4s Multistar 8000ma.(I';m think of running two in parallel giving 16000ma but with extra weight eCalc suggests the trade off for extra flight time would not be that favourable).
Running eCalc a multitude of ways best results seems to suggest 13 or 14 inch props (on 4s) but latter won';t of course fit without mods. I will start by trialling Tarot 1255 carbons and Gemfan 1347 composits. From what I can ascertain, and what other suggest too, I wouldn';t run these motors on this airframe with 3s - it will run no doubt but efficiency drops through the floor.

Presently I got AUW at around 2.8kg including both batteries (main, as above, and 1000ma to run camera and FPV gear later) which I';m quite happy with.
Motor testing I got a real world average of 230w, 15.5a (full throttle) and 51w, 3.2a (50% throttle) running the 1255 carbon props, which seems to me quite respectable and not too far off Emax';s claim numbers.
They seem fairly well balanced out the box though all of mine did need further balancing (not out by a great deal). The motor wires, it should be noted, are bare and bullets are not supplied.

So I have been impressed by these motors (build quality, performance) so far but, of course, the pudding is in the eating and I have yet to put them in the air!
I got mine from RadioC too, very quick delivery, and worth the little extra you pay I think for quick delivery and knowing that if you do get a dud these guys are not half way round the planet for returns/replacement.
Just my two pence worth, hope this helps.

awful... dont waste your money.

I ordered 4, 1 turned up with a dead cell (spent hours and hours trying to charge up) and another has a weak one which drops voltage really quickly. The other 2 i have no idea about as i stopped using them for this reason.

Cheers for your opinion on them Paul, everything taken into consideration :)
