Crius V2 current help!

Hi!
A just want to know what is more efficient for my electrics.
I have:
Extend board GPS (xbee ready)
Receiver
Bluetooth
3DR telemetry
Minimosd

For sure if I plug all them together, the 5-5.3V that crius want will not be enough.
So I make some mesurments I plug UBEC 5V/5A to crius. The UBEC shows 6V. I measure the voltage that crius provides to GPS/Bluetooth, and shows 5.5V.
I';m thinking to connect GPS/BT/3DR/OSD/receiver to another UBEC for giving crius the right voltage.

My questions are: what is my amperage consumption?
Is crius OK with UBEC 5V/3A? So the all others connect with UBEC 5V/5A?
Is it OK if I connect all together with one UBEC 5V/5A;
Why UBEC 5V or 6V actually are 1 volt higher? (6V or 7V)
If I solder the diode it will give 6 volts. Isn';t that dangerous?

  • Probably about 100ma in total
  • Overkill
  • Yes
  • Usually because it has no load on it.
  • The diode could create a bottleneck and limit the current

Thanks appreciate!!!
What your suggestion for the diode?

I can connect all with a UBEC hobbiwing 5V/3A 5A max.
and provide them all with crius power?

It has the option 6V. Should switch to 6V?

Or should I use CRIUS UBEC 5V/5A?

pheasant_plucker

6v will be fine as the Crius has it';s own voltage regulator built in.
I don';t know what diode your referring to! If it';s on the Crius then it could be for polarity protection and I would leave it as is.

Results:
All plugged
Powered from crius board: extend board (GPS), 3DR telemetry, bluetooth
From UBEC: minmosd
Hobbywind  UBEC 5V 3A (5V selectd) from 6V (actual) = 4,90V
Crius UBEC 5V/5A = 4,80V
Messurment did from digital port power pin

Are 4,90V OK for atmega?
Change the jumper from hobbywing it will goes (6V) actually 7V and drops to 5.90V
Suggestions?
Cheers  :beer2:

I';m running GPS and Minim OSD directly form the CriusAIO controler and I don';t have any problems. I';m powering the Crius board directly from a 3S battery. If you want you can power your peripherals from an external Ubec and not worry about the Crius power regulators no?

Commando

Thanks for your reply,
I decide to plug all to the board. Everything looking good!
