Ok will have to wait for now until I get my lipos.

rodg98133

Can you use one of those power packs that hold 4 aa batteries with the reciever power plug on it or does it have to be a lipo?

GdLookinMingeR

I upgraded my lite yesterday and decided to see if it flies in 40mph winds...

GPS locked on and it was awesome it actually tilted into the wind to remain in position

take off was better no drift and overall the naza led system is better

rapid blink green to indicate home position marked just made it so much better

Faultless such a big improvement.. if the weather is ok i will test the geo fence and see if it functions correctly
Carbon Tricopter with KK2 mini because you have to own a Tri and Falcon Evo FPV (rebuild again) with fatshark 600mw vtx & pz2040 cam. New addition (hidden from the missus!) 250 quad.

Don';t forget, on the V2 the second set of green rapid flashes indicates it';s stored the home position. I never realised that at first as the manual isn';t exactly that well written...

The geo fence is interesting. I set mine to a limit then flew full speed into it. It ended up over shooting by about 3m as it slowed down, then it reversed back to 1m less. It then refuses to go past that distance. A strange feeling when you are flying indeed!

It has to be a lipo as it powers from the PMU.

I';ve just done this mod. Didn';t work on my old xp machine which I keep especially for this kind of thing. Got the runtine error. Tried on my work win 7 and worked first time. Didn';t even have to re enter my gains. Awesome! Can';t wait to try it out.

That';s interesting as it worked on my xp machine that I keep for this sort of thing first time, no runtime or C++ errors at all.

Yeah its weird. I un installed dji drivers and assistant and v++. Re downloaded and installed after a power down still no joy. Tried that twice. Worked first time on my win 7 no messing around at all.

The only problem I had was when I forgot to take the bloody props off before updating, but that was a fault of mine not the machine, it still updated without issue, I even re-did the flash to make sure all was well.

Mine worked once I downloaded another version of the lite software which I noticed on the video had a red desktop icon mine was black. Worked 1st time once I did this. Went for a quick test in the park this morning was a tad windy but the difference is definitely noticeable. Ready to fly after 1 min of waiting the lite always took 38 seconds so not to bad a wait. Just gotta trim my gains and spend some money now.  Well worth doing in my opinion after being a little sceptical at first.

You say you can power up a naza lite and fly in 38 secs ???
I would never take off before three minutes have passed for all the gps data to be collected.
Cant afford a fly away.. learned my lesson i decided to take off after just minute once in atti only in a empty football field, with fpv gear on proceeded to fly towards the goal posts and found myself in trouble trying to correct left hand drift. Strange feeling and ditched it quick before it got worse. Never again, sometimes three minutes is just enough  ~~

Yeah now it seems too short but thats exactly what its always took for the it to be safe to fly. I check gps status first with my phone. Then wait for the led sequence to confirm with the flashing greens then followed by the red led to me number of sats.

Been like this since Oct 13.

Hi

About the props. When I upgraded the TBS Discovery the motors ran. On doing it on my Alien butterfly folder the motors did not spin but the upgrade was sucessfuf. Strange?

Yeah it';s strange, but I remove all props now just in case they start, not wishing to tempt fate with 6 props again.

I had no random prop spinning when I did the mod.  That is one bad point on the naza compared to most other fc';s. You need the lipo plugged in to set up. Which often means gimbal, vtx etc etc also power up and heating up unless you go to the trouble of disconnecting it all which as we all know isn';t always easy.

Had a couple of flights with the newly upgraded naza lite on my tbs pro. Gotta say, once I sorted out what I think may have been a radio calibration issue (intermittent red flashing bursts from led) it flew really well. A definite noticeable improvement over the lite firmware. Would definately recommend.

Yeah I noticed an improvement over the lite FW, to  test it I did fly a stock naza lite, then flew the updated naza lite, the updated one definitely feels better, I';ll do the other one I have.

Regarding this Rob, I'm in the habit of including an XT60 connector between the PDB and the Naza PMU (as it is with the Wooking M by default).  That way you can inject voltage directly to the Naza without powering the rest of the hardware, for firmware updates etc, just by unplugging one connector, easy!

Thats a good idea, for the big rig I may do this ~~

That is a good idea mate. Cheers. Im in the market for a ';big rig'; shortly so I';m sure these things become more obvious. Cheers for the tip.

Now that is very interesting and has just saved me from doing something I might possibly later regret.

I recently bought a Naza M V2 second hand from one of the forum members. It was kitted out exactly as you describe, an XT60 connector. Ordinarily I would wire the PMU directly to the PDB and of course would face the issue Rob mentions.  So I was prepared to cut the connector off and wire as usual.  But now I';ll not do that and just wire in a mating XT60 to the PDB. ~~

One thing we did notice about the update is although the LED sequence is changed from the usual lite sequence. You only get one long burst of green flashes to confirm gps lock and not a second long burst which my mates v2 does. Made me a bit wary but I gingerly tested RTH which worked with pin point accuracy. Thankfully.

I get 2 bursts of flashing on my Lite upgraded to V2.

First set is Homepoint set, second set is homepoint saved. I';m pretty sure that is what I have read somewhere. Might be tosh though.

It may be worth while reading the Naza V2 quickstart guide on the DJI site, to at least familiarise yourself with your ';new'; setup, after all with the new firmware, it';s a different FC!  The DJI kit is fairly easy to get up and running, and will give excellent results, but you do need to know what combination of flashes means what!  After all, if you drive your car with the oil light on for long enough, it';ll make some nasty noises!
As I understand it, after the FC has warmed up (4 yellow flashes) after 30 seconds, it will record its current home position, and also flight direction (which way it';s pointing on the ground).  When you arm it and push the throttle to 50% it will mark this info again before takeoff.  THis is similar to the Wookong M, and was included in a firmware update a couple of years ago, shortly after the V2 was released I think.
Incidentally, if your FC takes longer than 2 mins to ';warm up';, the advice is to perform an advanced calibration on the IMU (in the assistant).  TBH I would do that as a matter of course if you do decide to perform the ';upgrade';!

As I mentioned before, you can set home position/direction manually using the IOC switch, but again, you need to read the manual to understand the subtle differences between the different modes that the switch gives.
