Two cells on 3S battery don't go past 3.72V

Hi Guys

Got an interesting one here I haven';t dealt with before. I bought a second hand Turnigy 9x (with module and receiver) and it had a Rhino 2620 3S lipo in. The guy said the lipo may be dead, but it was a great deal regardless.

So I am currently trying to balance charge the battery but two of the cells seem stuck at 3.72V while the third is sitting pretty at 4.2V. I ran the battery to storage voltage and each of the 3 cells dropped a bit. I then tried to balance it again and 2 of the cells get stuck at 3.72V. Any Ideas of what I can do? Or is the battery ready for disposal?

Thanks
Jeremy

What rate are you charging at?

I would discharge to storage again and then balance charge at a painfully slow speed.  I';ve done this with a battery previously and got it to balance by charging at 0.1Amps.

If that doesn';t work, with my limited knowledge, I would suggest that it';s goosed.

Tbh, if the guy you bought it off said it was dead, and it';s not charging up properly, you';re fighting a losing battle. You can try and trickle charge it but you';ll probably have to buy a new battery anyway. Do you really wanna rely on a battery that could possibly fail on you at anytime?

That';s just my opinion.

The way I see it is I have nothing to lose to try trickle charge it! So that';s the first option...
If I cant revive it, then I';ll test out a lipo fire theory!

Thanks all :)

The ggod news is the cells are SLOWLY climbing. After 3 hours they are at 3.8V. So far its looking good...only many hours left to get to 4.2 :)
