Last week for my birthday I received the F550 ARTF!
Tested it last sunday and was impressive the way it handles with strong wind.

For FPV i bought the cheap 2 axis gimbal and the TX/RX video from boscam, the camera will be the SJ4000 wifi.

Looking good R3B!  They';re great platforms, for either aerial photography or buzzing around the countryside.  As you say, very stable, but fast as well.  A very underestimated beast.

My first real flight with it! ~~

Hopefully next week the 2 turnigy 5000 20C will arrive.

Nice 1!
Steady ad a rock.  A lot to be said for the flamewheel design, simple, but effective.

Personally I wouldn';t fly fpv on a gimbal.  Can be very confusing when you pitching forward and camera remains level. Add a board cam for £20

flybywire

Actually, it';s not as bad as you';d think!   ~~

I';m considering that too. :-)
Wich camera would you guys recommend?

flybywire

If you';re using it purely for filming, you really need to see from the camera that';s capturing the video (espec if you';re using manual tilt).  I';m not sure if the sj4000 can utilise the VGA out for fpv?

You can buy cheap video switchers from HK, which should enable you to get best of both worlds, from a switch on your Tx.  Conventional advice is not to rely on the GoPro (or clone) for fpv, although since using my GP 3 black, I';ve had no issues.
There are loads of cmos cams from securitycam 2000.

yes, I think I heard about a fware update.  I use the DYS as second GP format cam, and that does have vga out of USB.

Yeah agree. Though I wouldn';t use a gimbal camera as my fpv cam. It is very useful being abe to see what you camera is looking at. A video switch is the way to go

R3B

The avout cable for the SJ4000 arrived yesterday and 2 Turnigy 3S 5000 20C arrive today!  ~~ ~~

I';m thinking changing radio because i only have 6 channels (DX6i), what do you guys think about the DX8?

Love mine!   ~~

Although I think the 9 has kind of replaced it?  I';d have the 10, but it';s silly money.   :cry

And the FrSky Taranis is it good?

xxpitt

Yes very popular mid price range tx

flybywire

Yeah, taranis is goo too, so much so i have both!  Taranis is programable either on Tx itself or a PC, which many find easier, less fiddly.  Spektrum tx';s are pretty easy to setup, probably because there are less variables, but tbh, they are both very capable radio';s.
I think i prefer the feel & balance of the dx8, but gimbal quality of both is pretty good, especially if you';re used to a dx6 (which i started with).

Taranis can accept modules in the back for UHF, JR etc.
The jury is out!
Get both!

Found for the same price the Futaba T8J, is it leveled with the DX8 and the Taranis?

DarkButterfly

I picked up a Hitec Aurora 9 in a sale for about £183 with 9ch RX,

Superb radio, feels a bit better than my dx6i, but I keep the 6i for the long range stuff, as it has the EzUHF on the back.

Why use 4 motors when you can use 6?

I like the T8j, Futaba has mostly made quality gear, but again, you';re buying into 2.4ghz with no expansion options for UHF etc, which you will likely want if you get heavily into FPV etc!
No doubting it';s quality though.  It';s horses for courses really, Taranis will do pretty much everything, but is quite complex (as most who use it like!) Futaba is best build quality for mid price gear, Spektrum a close second.

Tell you what, you could do a lot worse than handle the things first (in a shop or local club), as you';ll spend a lot of time (hopefully) holding the thing!!  Same as a car really, most folk like to sit in the thing first.

Hope you get a goodun!
