Align G3 & Wookong question

OK I have no knowledge of gimbals (never mind the G3) or the Wookong  controller.

I was asked by a local commercial operator (friend of a friend) to assist him in getting his new align G3 operating with his Wookong, I have not seen these and am making assumptions from the manuals I found online

So far I have managed to dissuade the owner from trying to power the gimbal from the Wookong, and either use a separate 3S battery or a BEC (rather than trying to power it via the servo leads from the Wookong)
I have found nothing really useful on the internet apart from manuals and thought I would ask for some hints at least.

As far as I can tell from manuals you would normally connect a gimbal to a Wookong via connectors F1 and F2 using a pair of servo connectors.

However the Align gimbal only mentions connecting directly to

1 A seperate receiver (S-BUS or Spektrum satellite) nice and simple but not what is required
2 Their own APS-M flight controller via CH9 & CH10

Would I be right in assuming that it would be normal to simply use F1 & F2 in the same manner as channels 9 & 10 on the Align controller.

Here';s a link to the gimbal page on their website

http://shop.align.com.tw/product_info.php?products_id=5465

Right at the bottom of the page is the manual .pdf download link (or below).

The gimbal will direct connect to a 12v power source separate from ANY flight controller. The Rx connections (s.bus or otherwise) allow control via a Tx.
Set up can be done direct via USB connection to a PC, or with their Bluetooth add on unit & iPhone/Android App.

Turns out the guy who bought it had to send it back as it failed to power up (he had it plugged into a receiver.

He is fairly sure that in reality it';s actually a modified Alexmos controller. Once it hits the 40° it gets a bit upset.

He has decided to stick with his heavier gimbals

Thanks for the info I will go through them tomorrow as it';s something new to learn about
