Zenmuse Z15 alternatives

Hi folks,

I';m trying to find out if there any decent quality gimbals that can be compared to a Zenmuse Z15.  I';m looking at options for putting a sony A6000 in the air, preferably ones that don';t require a massive amount of testing, tweaking, testing tweaking etc.

I';ll be using it mainly for stills by the way.

Cheers

I started off trying lots of other gimbals before I bought a Z15..  reason being.. I got fed up tweaking them all the time..   that and I needed something that just worked out of the box.

Since then the Alexmos 32bit controllers have got a lot better.. dual sensors.. voltage sensing (helps when temp changes) and autotune have made a big difference..  that said most gimbal issues can be traced to mechanical problems.. poor bearings.. or none at all.. some just use the motor.. which is a bad idea if a circlip lets go..  don';t get one with tilt axis only supported on one side..

If your budget cant stretch to a Z15.. then make sure you buy a gimbal that';s easy to adjust.. has slip rings..  and good pivot bearings..

Best one I came across for Nex was this one..

Although had some bad experiences with the seller..

DYS is also a very good gimbal

If you are not doing video.. then a 2 axis may be fine.. X-cam make some nice gimbals for the Nex range..

Pre-Order.. but looks like a Z15 Copy..

The Align Gimbal is now available does anyone know if this is a credible alternative to the Zenmuse. Its cheaper but thats not always the best detail to focus on i know

I';m sorry but there is nothing to come close to the z15, it just works every time faultlessly, I';ve wasted a lot of time and money on gimbals before I bought the real McCoy. I think you can get the gh4/3 for about £1500 new now, or if you could find some one to chip in on a s900 deal (s900/wkm or A2 and z15) you could maybe get it cheaper. I know it';s still a lot more than the clones but they are amazing and you won';t regret it!

The problem with the Z15, it allow only one camera with only one lens ! the price and weight are really high too !

But agree with other, be careful of those chinese gimbal, lot are really badly build. The less bad of them is the DYS eagle Eye but it weight 1.7kg empty and the simple tube design isn';t the more relaible and user friendly to ajust.
