those DYS motors look quite chunky, are they larger than the zmr/rcx';s you use, they look more like 2204 motors.

Those DYS are full of awesome power. I';ve a set of them on my Pro 250 (from Phil) and it shifts like the proverbial cat with tail on fire.  I';m itching to see six of the beasties powering the Thorax.

Update:

Today i received some LED';s, the final piece of my build (cheers Hands0n!) so my lunch break was spent adding them to the frame and soldering etc. So now all soldering is done and the middle plate is on.

Left to do:
Attach rx
Secure camera and wire in vtx
Configure naze32 for hex
FLY!!

I should be able to complete these on Monday.

Glad you like the build guys. Still a few things left to do but I just had to give it a quick flight earlier. It';s not as neat as I';d like it will do for now. The rear LED was a last minute addition and may or may not be permanent. I did try and take a picture but it didn';t come out too well.

Left to do:
Add FPV gear.
Stretch it';s legs.

The good thing about the rear LED is that it';s on a bulldog clip and can be removed anytime and replaced.

It';s on default Cleanfight settings with a tweak to the yaw rate. I may add the settings from my 250 for a laugh.

Well, Kermit is ready! I';ve installed the FPV cam and vtx. The camera needs tuning as does the quad, but I';m ready to give him a proper test flight. I';m also waiting on some batteries which should be here tomorrow.

Cannot wait to run some batteries through this hex.

So, nearly a month after I finished my build, I finally managed to stretch the legs of Kermit. I had a right blast. I warmed up with 2 1400mah nanotechs before slapping on a 2.2A and going mental. I';m was using the same settings as I use on my 250pro but the hex felt a lot... easier to control.

I';ve attached a vid but I';m a bit disappointed because I forgot to empty my memory card before I left....

That was a superb show of the Thorax';s capability.  Great to get the on-board view.  It doesn';t exactly hang about, does it? ~~

I';d vote for the DYS myself, they';re immensely powerful, very punchy, although a bit chunkier than the RCX1804 motors.

Does anyone know if the Naze32 will fly a hex with only 5 motors if one failed (ie. like Naza M and APM will)?

It most certainly does, I had a prop fly off on my Thorax hex and it didnt make much difference I just landed it and put the prop back on.
