First hover tonight with the APM 2.6
Flies great straight off, If it looks a little flighty that';s me it';s only got 8'; square of space.
I';ll post some more pictures and the full hardware spec later.

Component breakdown.

Rctimer 2830-850KV (cut shaft) Motors 6 off
Rctimer NFS ESC 30A Multi-Rotor ESC SimonK Firmware (OPTO) 6 off
APM2.6 Mega2.6 Flight Controller shell w/ Ublox Neo-6M GPS
Radio for telemetry Air Module 433Mhz
MultiCopter Power Battery to 8 ESC Connection Board
10x4.5 Props (i like these, stiff and efficient)

You will need some 16g silicon wire to extend the ESC leads by about 3" each

I';m thinking of swapping the standard undercarriage for a high heli skid type. I';m wary that the blade type of skids fitted will dig in at the earliest opportunity causing a lot of tears.
Something like this
landing Gear

I have attached an image of my default PIDs with this hardware. It flys straight out of the box on these settings.

I must admit my concerns about the undercarriage skid as they do look a little flimsy, I have see some Y-650  Scorpions with dual skids on each undercarriage leg on YouTube.

My components are;
Turnigy D2830/11 1000KV motors;
30A Afro esc;
Ether a KK2.1 Hd  :-/ Openpilot CC3D;
10x4.5 Props.

The silicon wire is 18g with 3.5 bullet connectors and a  tx60  breakout cable too the battery.
What size battery will I need with this setup?

pheasant_plucker

If I was running 1000kv motors I would probably try a 3s battery. I have 850kv motors and run 10x4.5 on a 4s 5000ah.

Thanks Gerry, I will try a 3s battery.  I decided to go with the OpenPilot  CC3D flight board insted of the KK2.0 HC .

I haven';t tried those, I prefer the APM for it';s versatility.

I fancy having a go with APM but I was running out of money and went he cheap option , but when I have got some more money in the bank I will order one for my next build.
