Now that is more like it

a £99 GoPro ideal for multirotor use
mini USB on the rear and not the side
1080/30 720/60 is fine for multirotor use
Lightweight 111 g
Gets the auto low light from GoPro 4

This one I can see more people using

The Web page says the Hero is built directly into the waterproof housing.  Could be too heavy for FPV use.

A very valid concern. The only figures I could find for the new ';budget'; model give a weight of 3.9oz(110g) and yes, the camera is built into the housing. Card slot and usb connections are now mounted on the back of the unit which you access by opening the rear door of the housing.

Mmm totally missed that
GoPro Kinda missed the mark on that one again
Still it is light enough to mount on a anti-vibration mount as an entry into FPV or aerial Photography

Great size and weight for a dog cam though ~~

The Hero3 White @ £149 appeals to me for the sake of an extra £50

Wouldn';t want to pay much more than that though

unless you want/need GoPro label, is this significantly better than the SJ4000 ?

I see it has a built-in battery so appears some cost-cutting compared to other models

Britishguy

would be hard to say but id still rather choose the actual gopro over the sj

barneyg

the SJ400 also has a screen that allows for video/image review and even, shock apon shock, allows you to actually frame your video/photo';s deliberately  ::)

Hands0n

I run a GPH3B and an SJ4000 and have to say that I prefer the SJ';s built-in screen to not having one at all.  Even with my eyesight I can make good use of it, particularly for framing when fitting to a vehicle.

Downsides of the new GoPro - once that battery is flat then the camera is out of use until charged up again.   Whereas with the other GoPro and the SJ4000 you can just slap in another battery if you have one (which I do).

Built in battery sounds like a bad idea, unless it charges off an in car adapter very quickly.

pilkinn

Not having 50fps at 1080 makes it less attractive for me for flight recording. So you may as well use a mobius which is also cheaper. I always use the highest frame rate possible as it makes for a smoother video and can also reduce the likelihood of jello.

Just had a look on their site and they have a dual battery charger @£40 to charge 2 at once. They are indeed removable.

that may be for the GP4 versions, but this thread is about the Hero - definitely recall seeing builtin mentioned on the Jessops website, but can';t get back to the page now...

My apologies, i was reading "new go pro" as all the same configuration.

no need to apologize - TBH, until someone gets hold of one of these, nobobdy really knows!

GoPro website is hopeless for any hard info  :huh

doofer

I don';t see the point in a GoPro for a flight camera personally, Mobius does everything I need and is less than half the cost, it';s smaller and lighter too, only real selling point on a GoPro is the Waterproofing but seeing as I don';t ever intend using any of my Multi-Rotors underwater :wack0 that really isn';t going to sway me.

Sweet Pickle

Got an SJ4000 WIFI coming (slow boat from china) as a disposable. I don';t mind losing a £70 camera. Got it from foxoffer with extra batteries, charger and USB video out cable. Not a bad deal considering all the mounts that come with it it knocks spots off this £100 gopro. Sure I';ll still keep a gopro Black as the main event but maybe not send it on any 2KM flights  ~~
That being said I';ve grown old waiting for delivery of the SJ4000. I';ll be on my 10th Quad by the time it gets here at this rate.

Hands0n

I';ve seen those WiFi SJ4000 on EBay from UK sellers/stock for around £74.  My non-wifi arrived next working day ~~

I was tempted to be honest but there appear to be so many snides on eBay. Bit of a joke I know, copies of a copy. .. but that';s what';s going on. The fake ones aren';t up to snuff apparently.

Hands0n

I have a clone of a clone and its absolutely fine, although that may be as much luck as anything else.

But the ones I was referring to I discovered after I';d already paid for mine, these were genuine SJ4000 - the ones with the additional print on the front panel and the original name on the box.

Hmm, whislt I';m still extremely new to flying I daren';t strat my Gopro 3 Black on. Thats why I ordered one of these, thought it would be disposable. I';m sick to the back teeth of waiting now though so I wish I';d have known of an original (fake) in the U.K. I swear I';ll never order from Foxoffer or China again. I';m way too impatient. If it';s not in the UK it can  :nananana:
