We will end up subject to the EU legislation that is being prepared for civil drone use.  I am not particularly bothered as it will propose a framework for such use by non-military organisations.   Noteworthy, however, is that the discussion seems to recognise hobbyist use and has not so far proposed any draconian changes.

There were similar Luddite cries from the media and others when cameraphones first appeared. Our privacy was set to be ripped asunder by anyone and everyone taking photographs and videos of people through their windows and in their gardens. Bizarre imaginings.

This won';t be newsworthy stuff for the media in a while and they';ll go hunting the next big story.  The world is going to have to get used to civilian UAV, the drones they are a';coming ;)

Not so bizarre I reckon) ...the News of the World and others soon hooked onto new technology for their own intrusive purposes...won';t take the newspapers long to get in on the UAV act.........then the crap will hit the fan for everybody.

Let's be careful out there.
SAFETY is.. NO accident.

Already heard of drones being used by the paparazi. Think I caught a snippet last week on the radio.

I have this conversation often with people who walk up for a chat when I';m out flying.  My response generally goes along the lines of .... "Were you able to hear the noise of my aircraft up in the air?" to which they usually say "Yes".  I then ask them to imagine me flying outside their Bedroom/Bathroom/Lounge window or over their garden trying to film their activities and ask if they believe that they';d be able to hear me doing that.  The answer is always "Yes".   I then tell them that I would have more success with a GoPro Hero mounted on a broomstick.

So perhaps the newspapers had best get in a flap about these micro sport cameras and broom handles from Wickes, Homebase, B&Q and the like!

::)

I have a general dislike of the meeejia.

Haha.

Although I think a broom handle and a stick would work for your regular UK back garden (although waving a long lens SLR atop a broom stick could be...interesting).  But what a UAV gives a low life pap is the ability to traverse the otherwise cavernous distances required to get really close to your typical A lister who lives in a mansion with large grounds or on a private beach / yacht etc or fly around upper story windows whilst concealed or not have to climb trees or hide in bushes.

And I am totally comfy with the afflicted taking matters into their own hands in that scenario.

Can see a lot of anti-aircraft fire in the USA if the paps get permission!!
