Scary moment...

Well today I had a fear....

Still learning at the moment...  But was out playing at a field on the edge of town.

Did three flips in row at the far edge of the field...  When it came back up it was full power to get back up away from the ground....  Orientation was now not what it was when it went into the rolls.... She started to drift away over towards the town....

Initial panic before i pulled my head out my arse as it drifted away on the wind.

Check signal on the TX, still over 50% so no rush.

Right then left...  Rotate... Right left....  Rotate.....  Right left....  Phew.....  Back You come!

Could feel fear once I got it back hovering over my head!

Because I was having a play I hadn';t bothered with GPS or Mag set-up... Even so I don';t trust it yet!

A good strategy to recover orientation there   Congrats on keeping a cool head and getting your aircraft back.  Plenty of time to poop yourself afterwards

I was trying to explain this to my Mrs the other day, her answer was way do you do it if you get so worried about it that your heart rate goes up and you get all panicky!

You got the strategy dead on - I';m flying los only currently without gps and by using that same strategy have not yet had a problem caused by loss of orientation; I';ve ditched a couple of times though ::)
